This song is about sticking to your partner when times get rough or he loses control over his life .. He says " will you still call me superman ? " will I still be your hero no matter what ? " ill keep you by my side with my superhuman might " to signify that the lengths he will go to to keep her beside him are worthy of superman .. and in the end calls her " Kryptonite " because it's the only thing that can weaken superman or him in this metaphor

Okay, not sure who exactly he is singing it to, but from what I can see, he's saying "hey, you look up to me now and expect me to be there for you, but what'll happen when I'm not there for you? Will you still be there with me?" the part about keeping you "by my side with my superhuman might" implies it may have something to do with a girl, but again, that's just me... Hope this helps.

This song is about a guy basically asking his girl if she'll stand by him, no matter what happens and no matter if everyone else thinks he's crazy.

The singer is basically saying that he's stood by this girl and protected her secrets and been there when she needed him most, and he's asking her to return the favor if she needs it.

The music video apparently had something to do with this old guy who used to be Superman running around chasing after this old guy who used to be a villian... (don't quote me on this, I just heard that).

This song was actual listed a long time ago on a TV show on VH1 and he explained this was a FRIENDSHIP song not really about a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship. However, I am sure it may be used in any context you prefer.

The video looks like Super hero night at a gay bar.....but that has nothing to do with the song.

This song makes me think of my boyfriend, who I lovingly call Superman (because he's freakishly strong)...and because he has no weaknesses....then, a few weeks ago I called him and he sounded near tears, (something I wasn't even sure was possible) he said a friend of mine gave him reason to believe that I was interested in someone else (I wasn't)and then he said, "You know how you call me Superman?" I said yes and he continued, "Well, you're the only one that can hurt me. My heart is my Kryptonite."

So there you have it: What I think is a perfect interpretation of a song.
A strong, successful guy that has one weakness....his heart

The song is basically saying will you still be there for me even when the going gets rough? Its about true friendship or true love whichever way you wanna look at it. The video also represents this..an old man who used to be a superhero still trying to save the day and if you will still believe in him.

this song is a metaphor. he's not talking about a real super man, "You stumbled in and bumped your head, If not for me then you'd be dead I picked you up and put you back On solid ground" this tells how he saved someone from drowning. this song is a way of asking that person, that when he gets old if they'll still respect him and remember that he saved them. and the video is just another way of saying it, the song has nothing to do with an old man being a superhero

I believe that it means...that never leave a friend hanging in a time of need and always be there for them.

Yeah, the meaning isn't too obscure (I was interested to read that the author said it was more about friendship than love -- I wouldn't have guessed). What I think is so interesting about the song is that the narrator is Superman, or a superman-like character, invincible, etc., but he sounds so insecure and anxious. The music, too, is a kind of ambiguous mix of power and angst. Great song. Three Doors Down never reached this height again... IMHO, of course.

the music video has a meaning , if you pay attention to the lyrics: "If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?" it's actually saying, "If i mess up, will you still be there for me?" and "If i'm alive, will you be there holding my hand?" that means "if i do good would you be there for me?" the story with the old guy is that he messed up long ago and let everyone down and he quit being a superhero and now retired he try's to make it right again before he passes. but he can't fix the past.

This song is not about a girl. It's about 2 friends. Being friends is the only thing keeping them together. without each other, they would be nothing. When they are with each other they get crazy but still keep each other together. you have to actually get into the lyrics of songs. you can't just hear them and automatically assume it's about a girl.

I believe the song is about a man who is deeply in love with someone with an addiction. I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind. Because of all the things that has to do with the relationship. He really doesnt mind things happening now and then but in the end he want to still be reconized even if its friendship. In his struggles he may go crazy and wants to know if she will be by his side and if he doesnt go crazy he want to know the same thing.

I feel this song is about the insecurities of a relationship (i see it as love, but whatever) That the narrator feels vulnerable to desertion if they ever fail or in any way dont meet the expectations of them. They feel like they're viewed in a certain way (superman) and have to live up to this idea of them at all times, like they arent allowed to fail without this person walking away. i see this song describing a fairly unequal relationship, in that the narrator seems to have an unconditional love for this person, while he feels that their feelings for him are dependent on this facade of strength, i see the 'superhuman might' refering to his restraint in expressing anything that may 'turn them off' him. he is in love with them and they are his weakness, he cannot get over them or let them go no matter what they do to him.

In the beginning when he says "I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind, I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time" I think means that he clears his mind by closing himself off from the rest of the world and takes and thinks about everything.
