30 Seconds To Mars: The Kill Meaning
The Kill Lyrics
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do? (Oh, oh)
What if I fell to the floor
Couldn't take this anymore
What would you do, do, do?
Come break me down
Marry me, bury me
I am finished with you
What if...

He is fighting with himself to find who he really is. He isn't talking to a girl he is talking to the other side of himself. He is saying that he is not going to give up on finding his one true self. He is saying that the fight between the two sides of himself are killing him emotionally.

It is about guy who is in love with his girlfriend but when he tell her she does not tell him how she feels and it results in him just wanting to know so bad he goes crazy
this is truely show in the line "Look in my eyes
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you" -

It's about a battle with himself, finding out and accepting who he really is and getting over trying to be who he isn't. He is tired of being what people expect/want him to be, he just wants to be him, no facade, no pretending.

Ok yeah it may be about a battle between yourself but this song can also be a thing about a guy and a girl. This song related sooooo much to my life a few months ago when my boyfriend and I broke up. It hurt that he didn't want me as his girlfriend anymore. but also when I heard this song it also made me open up my eyes to see the kind of guy my boyfriend was. for example.
"What if I wanted to break
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do? (Oh, oh)
What if I fell to the floor
Couldn't take all this anymore
What would you do, do, do?"
I got the meaning that he is telling this girl what if you just broke and just did something so mean to her for hurting him and then laugh it all off in her face how would she feel about that. Then it says fell to the floor well he is saying what if just gave up on trying to get the relationship to work.
"Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you"
Ok now the girl must have said some really mean things to this guy meaning she is breaking his confidence down so much and all her words are burying him alive he wants to end it now.
"What if I wanted to fight
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do?
You say you wanted more
What are you waiting for?
I'm not running from you (from you)"
He is saying what if for the rest of his life he kept asking for her to take him back what would she finally do about it. She said she wanted more out of the relationship and he is giving it to her and she still won't take him back and he is letting her know he is running from this he isn't gonna just leave her like that.
"Look in my eyes
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you"
Wen she looks in his eyes and says all these hurtful things to him it just keeps killing him so much and the only crime he ever committed was wanting her.
"I tried to be someone else
But nothing seemed to change
I know now, this is who I really am inside.
Finally found myself
Fighting for a chance.
I know now, this is who I really am."
He tried so hard to be the person she wanted and he became this person for her but nothing changed she still pushed him away. He finally realizes that who he was before is who he really is inside he finally found who he truly is and that fighting for a chance so not what he is gonna keep doing anymore. He knows who he truely is now.
This is what I got from the song I know I could be wrong but this is what it came like to me! -

First of all let's get one thing clear...HE'S NOT F*CKING GAY!! It's really about a relationship with yourself. Its about confronting your fear and confronting the truth about who you are. Also, it is about "confrontation as a crossroads -- coming face-to-face with who you really are.
If you are so quick to jump to the conclusion that he's talking about being gay, then maybe you should take a look at yourselves since you're so obsessed with it.

The video is copying The Shining and that's about a man who looses control of himself and goes mad. However I think The Kill is about how a women has driven a man insane. By the way Jared Leto is proof God exists... mmmm nice...

I think the song is about one's own struggle with everyday problems: Should I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or tuna casserole for lunch? Should I take the interstate to work or the scenic route? Should I wipe four times or six times? All of these are everday struggles and I'm glad Leto confronted these questions in this song.

I think it's about him leaving behind a version of him that really wasn't who he really is.

From watching the video, and reading the lyrics, I think the song is about finding a new self image, rather than dealing with another person.
"Come break me down... bury me... I am finished with you"
If you look at it as if he is talking to himself, you could say that he is finished with who he was, and wants to break down any bury his old ways.
"I tried to be someone else, but nothing seemed to change,
I know now, this is who I really am inside."
May be relating to his struggle between being himself, and being an image he thinks others want him to be.
Also the music vedio seems to be at a prom, which is often a time (near graduation) where people change from kids playing cool to what they actually want to become later in their lives. It shows doubles of many people, although they look different (one the old them, and the other the new?)
Then again, it may just be about killing a hurtful relationship. =P -

Well I think that maybe the song it's officialy about facing yourself... buuuuuut as all the songs of all the bands you can take it the way you want I mean... maybe you don't have to fight yourself but you're at the moment of listen the song, in a relationship that doesn't work and in that case you can think the song it's about a relationship... So... I agree with the relationship thing and the war with yourself... you choose your interpretation...

This song is about facing yourself and your problems. I got the deluxe edition of the album " A Beautiful Lie ", and on the DVD Jared Leto says that most people think it is about a girl, but its really about facing yourself.

I think this song is about someone that changed for someone else. So that person is saying that they are gonna kill that part that they made up of themselves. Hence the bury me bury me part. In the video, when he's face to face with himself, he says this is who I really am and he's saying it to the made up part of himself. He doesn't even know which is the real part of himself anymore. That's why it would be kind of like a crazy person. The person is confused about who they are.

To all the ppl who thought it was about a girl- that's real typical, and 30 sec to mars songs are not typical. I'm pretty sure that the scene in the music video where (as my friend likes to call it) he has that "moment" with his twin kinda gives a little insight to the song. when he says "what if I wanted to break...what would you do?" he's not talking to some girl or whatever, he's talking to himself- or the person he's trying to be. either that, or he's just talking to the world- everyone around him. all the people who THINK they know him. Take your pick. :D

You people are all morons with your deep interpretations of the meaning of this song. If you pay attention to the video, you will notice that whenever he is face to face with himself, he is uncomfortable. This represents his bad breath vs his fresh mouth. His halitosis is so bad he would rather be dead thus the "bury me Bury me". The Bear in the video represents how he wants the Boston Bruins to win the Stanley Cup.

Hmmm I don't really like them that much jared leto seems kinda arrogant, but I heard that in this song he was talking to himself about his life and how he didn't know who he was but he finally found himself..... Something like that.

First of all, Jared Leto is the hottest man in the world... and this song interprets how he's fighting with himself and where he can go from where he is, I say this because I can kinda relate to him. Its hard to find your true self without actually knowing for sure, if you pay attention to the lyrics in his songs from the album a beautiful lie, he is constantly saying in his songs how he wants to find himself in some way or another.thats why he takes his nusic so seriously, which is understandable.
