I think that it means that people might have thought that ACDC was over after the death of Bon, but this song is stating that:
"I'm (ACDC) Back (stating that they are still going) in Black (after Bon Scott's death)"

This song is dedicated to lead singer Bon Scott who died of asphyxiation, after choking on his own vomit in his friend's car after a night of drinking. May He Forever Rest In Peace!
The song is talking about how they rereleased some of Bon's Songs after he was dead.
I'm Back in Black (black is the color of death, so "I'm back from the dead")
Every line says pretty much the same thing.

First of all Brain Johnson is better than Bon Scott at singing but Bon had a better stage presence... and this song isn't about coming back form the dead or revenge or anything... Its just a plain old tribute song to Bon Scott

Guys, I have Back in Black and in the information slip that comes out of it it says he choked on his own vomit.
Now, I basically agree with everyone else. This song is definitely a tribute to Bon.

FOR ALL U THAT POSTED ABOVE:
-the one that said it was exhaust is wrong, it was a Cadillac car not suv, and the fumes would not get into the car unless the car was on for a long period of time IN A CLOSED SPACE (eg- garage) and it was in a parking lot OFF.
-The alcohol poisoning was partially correct. because he drank alot, he got poisoning, and THAT made him throw up, and the way he was laying, he suffocated on his own puke.

other than that its basically right, that its a tribute to the best singer of the best band EVER.

Are you kidding me? Seriously!? I can't believe I just read so many wrong interpretations. The song was written months before Bon Scott died look it up. Unless it's all a conspiracy, it is definitely NOT a tribute to Bon Scott or anything even close to that. How could it be a tribute to Bon if he and Angus wrote the song before his death?

There are two ways this go ACDC used it to say "were still here a death can't bring us down" and Brian used it to say "I'm in another band a better one"

Yea, I didn't know that AC/DC songs were that hard to understand. I pretty much understood them all when I was 12 so you all have problems if you can't get the lyrics.

This song is simply a way for AC/DC to give a tribute to Bon and this song just says that they're back, and pretty much they can get through anything, including death of a good friend. And for those of you who were mistaken about who wrote it, Brian did the lyrics, it obviously wasn't written before Bon died (otherwise it would be a huge coincidence) and Malcolm was the one who came up with the main riff years before but never recorded it.
