This one is clearly about the strength of love this man has for whoever it may be, and loves them so deeply-he dosent even want to sleep--afraid he will miss a moment with his love-even while she is asleep.

I may be way offline here, but growing up, this was mine and my dad's favourite song, it was like our song, and when we sang it together it was like we were singing it to eachother, didn't matter who was listening or who was watching we would sit there and sing it loudly and proudly never once losing eye contact, that's what makes me think its aerosmith singing to his daughter, liv.

My dad (may he rest in peace) used to sing this to me. I'd even request it for him. I think it was for the movie but to his daughter and that she was the inspiration. Then I kiss your eyes that is such a fatherly thing to do, kiss on the eyes, forhead, nose, hair. Everything isn't about lovers.

My opinion about a mother and her baby (or a parent and their child)and that moment when you fall in love with your baby and know that you never want to miss a thing. It makes me cry everytime I hear it, when my son was a few months old I heard this song and held him in my arms and danced and cried. I used to watch him sleep, watch his eyes flicker & move & wonder what he was thinking and dreaming. It just sums up perfectly the love and joy I feel for him.

I heard this song wasn't even written by Steven. It was written by Diane Warren and Joe Perry helped in the process. But I think it could be a love song or a dad-daughter song. All the interpretations above were right, I think.

Honestly, if you actually listen to what he says, it sounds like he had a bad break up, and was going to commit suicide, but he didn't because he found someone else to breathe on while they were asleep

It's about a guy really falling in love with a girl and will do anything for her :)

I think it is about the people in your life who you love and you wished you could be there for every moment of there life when their there and when their not and you don't want to miss a thing

It can be viewed in many different ways. For me, it's the love I have for my son from the time he was born to the time he went away to the Marines and off to the Iraqi ware in 2008. A mother's love is something special. I love the song, it reminds me of my son and how I longed for his return from war.
