When he says, "I can't fight for a graveyard anymore" he is talking about the relationship he had with the girl.

He is saying their love is dead like a graveyard and he isn't going to fight for it any more.

I agree with the comment above. The use of the word graveyard definitely describe a relationship. It also describes that his hope for the future of that relationship is dead, and he's pretending it's not, when he knows that it is.

The song in general is talking about a relationship that has nothing going on for either party. Basically that the two are in this relationship that bares nothing fruitful, but they just keep it going because they don't find that there's a use in finding something else. The beginning lines says it all as well as in the chorus: "I'm just the ground that you happen to fall on" It's like the song is saying 'We met each other, we were both in the same predicament, and if we're in the same boat, we might as well be together even if we aren't happy or in love.' because they are that lonely. And if it did end, it wouldn't be a relationship worth fighting to keep anyways. They are just a neutral sort of couple.
