I believe that this song is about dying without being remembered. "Who call out my name". When you die will anyone remember what you did or even what your name was?

I believe this song is about him wondering if anyone will remember him after death hence "of my immortal soul of this eternal flame, will you remember?, will your heart sing with pain?" and also about his fate after death "does it all simply end in a blanket of darkness

I think that he is beginning to see the futility of everything that we do in our lives. He is beginning to realize what is really important, what happens when we die. He is right when he believes that everything that he has done is worthless and that someday it is all going to be gone. What is going to happen to his soul? Are people even going to care that he is gone?

you are all kinda right and wrong. alex has already stated that the song was made shorty after their return home from touring with the SN&BK tour. his grand father had passed away an if you haven't know his grandfather was a big supporter of his music career. an a big role in his life. the song reflects loved ones after we have passed on. who will remember us, what will we be remembered by, is it just a blanket of darkness or something else we are unsure.

Writing about something doesn't mean the song writer is actually thinking about it like when you write about love doesn't mean there is actually a certain person that you love or when you write about being buried alive you are obviously not being buried alive
writing is not about reality, especially lyrics -_-,,,,
