I think the use of sexual phrases and words are used to describe just how instinctive his desire is to "get off" the path of rapid technological advancement. As we move towrads progress we tend to go astray from a more "natural" way of living. Computers, internet, ipods, labtops, cell phones, etc. Are all part of our lives in the western world. As we know from other br songs (21st century), he is somewhat skeptical of just how really useful this technology is regarding our intellectual advancement. In this song, he is expressing his deeper instinctive rage towards technological “progress”, which to him is not necessarily progress. He makes a reference to diogenes, a greek philosopher, who yearned for a more simple way of life. Although I don’t think greg graffin necessarily is against all technology, but is clearly frustrated with what type of technology is being developed and how it deteriorates creative and intellectual endeavor. Although there is positive potential for technological development, it hasn’t happened that way. In my opinion, this is a direct result of capitalism. An example of this would be the internet or a television. Both can be useful means of popular dissemination, yet they have been bombarded with advertisements and useless information. Sometimes it gets so frusterating that it can make one wonder weather or not we as humans are really progresing in any meaningful way? Think about it... There is massive amounts of capital being invested into machinery such as computers, ipods, cell phones, even military technology. Yet. All of these things are created in a very unsustainable manner. Weaponary tech. Is too obvious to make note.
