   Actually, the general meaning of the song is a little bit more complex (just a little!)than just about a dentist that gave them drugs one time. LOTS of people gave-or tried to give The Beatles drugs-almost on a daily basis..Lennon songs almost always have a little more deeper meaning..and the line "well..well..well.your feeling fine...well well well we'll make you.." sung in an all-too-nice fakery tone,was an indication that Lennon was on to all the "Dr Roberts" that were trying to make him feel a little too fine-and take advantage of him (listen to She Said, She Said for more of the same meaning).

   Now please correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Dr. Robert the man who gave then drugs. "...My friend works for the national health, Doctor Robert..." Hmmm???
