   Hey Jude is Masturbation 101 from the beginning till the end paragraph per paragraph for Jude or Jules but in a mellowed tone. It is exactly what you do when you start jacking off. Dont believe everything what is written in wikepedia or any encyplopedia. LOL. The song was a hit and even up to now it is a good song when your hear it in the air waves. How old was Jules then? 6 years old? But I doubt it is for Jules they were referring but it is a possibility they were teaching Jules to masterbate. The Beatles have a very open mind. Do not believe whatever they say about the interpretation. You wont admit also if youve written a masterbation song when money kept pouring in. My two cents.

   Two points... 1. Not every song is about just one subject. As a matter of fact, many Lennon/McCartney songs have a second meaning... This one included. 2. The Beatles rarely openly admitted any drug reference, however obvious. And why would or should they. If you don't think "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is a not so subtle reference to LSD, well then you've never listened to the song tripping... lol... Love that song. Also, Lennon has said that "Happiness is a Warm Gun" has nothing to do with Heroin. RIGHT! "I need a fix because I'm going down..." Yep, probably about elevators...    cmon, sing hey jude till the end. It is a masturbation song teaching jude to do it for the first time. "Dont be afraid".
   If it is a song about the break up of lennon, why the heck the song is in celebrating mode at the end, singing nanananana and shoting at the top of their lungs.    It is a song about masturbation friends. I am 55 years old now and living in the Philippines then. There was news in our newspaper banning the song but cannot prove the real meaning of the song. Philippines, a catholic country want it banned from public radio.
   This about the last verse were they shout "na na na na wahhh wahhh" it was climax for masturbation.
   The beatles of course will not admit this "masturbation song" since Hey Jude turned out to be a great hit.

   before i add my comment i would like to ask why does every song written has to deal with drugs? i used to smoke pot in the 60s. when i met my wife i stopped smoking there is no withdrawel that i know of. 2nd what is with all these anonymous commenters are you afraid someone will kill you if you used your screen name? take credit for what you created your comments are your feelings not important about the song your interprating? hey jude as every knows is about julian lennon and his lack of accepting yoko and i would have the same feelings as you. who needs a weird lady walking around all day with a basket of fruit or whatever her invisable guru tells her to do. with all that aside i had a friend who came back to new york for the summer and the first time he heard the full version and couldn't believe it. i guess the radio stations still held that format about playing 3 minute songs. although the the song turned into a party like ending with jude being sung over and overand all the back ground noise it became one of the beatle's best songs

   I am surprised that no one comments on the other lines of this song that are so moving, "And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain, don't carry the world upon your shoulders."
   My interpretation is he is explaining that dealing with emotional pain is not to internalize it to let it drag you down.
   He goes on to share, "For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool, by making his world a little colder." Paul tries to share with Julian that it would be foolish to just "play down" the importance of his parent's divorce, numbing his feelings ("plays it cool") will not be selective to just the one incident in his life, but set a pattern for how he will deal with emotional distress for the rest of his life ("making his world a little colder."
   Humans unfortunately are by nature lazy and self-centred. I'm not being cynical, it is just a fact (as an example look at how we butcher the English language when we post on-line). This is why I find the two lines about the fool so poignant. If I can show more courage, commitment, and determination (NOT be cool) in my day-to-day life, I may be able to leave this world in a bit better shape then I found it.

    Obviously this song is not about Heroine. I have no idea where that even comes from if you look at the personalities of all of The Beatles (James) Paul McCartney talkes more about love and he is just that kind of person. John is usually the one who writes about drugs although he also talks very politically as well.
    Hey Jude is about the divorce between John and Cynthia and Paul was trying to comfort Jules (name changed to Jude) who was going through a hard time. The her in the song is I believe referring to Yoko Ono.

    Yes it is about Julian. The thing is not only do you need to listen to the lyrics you also need to listen to the rhythm. The song even says "take a sad song and make it better" the rhythm to the song changes from a sympathizing tune to an encouraging up beat inspiring rhythm. Its beautiful how they can make one meaning clear thru both lyrics and song. The Beatles are perhaps the best band that ever existed, the song was supposed to be cheerful not only to Julian but to everybody.     Jude refers to Julian, the son, but can also refer to Judas, the traitor, the Biblical disciple who betrayed Jesus. John Lennon = Judas who betrayed Synthia and left her for Yoko. So, the song could be as well addressed to Lennon...'Hey, traitor, go and get your Yoko..what can you do, it can't be worse, your marriage is broken, so don't blame yourself...don't carry world upon your shoulders"...Irony is that John, the traitor, is betrayed and killed by one of his fans...The curse of Judas?

    Here is my thought. Maybe Paul wrote this song about John leaving the Beatles to be with Yoko. Lines like: You're waiting for someone to perform with..." about John and Yoko's performance art. "Don't carry the world upon your shoulder..." about John campaigning for peace, trying to fix the world. "you have found her, now go and get her." It all just seems to me, it is all about the inner turmoil of the band and Paul saying to John to "don't you know that it's just you" to just do want you feel you need to do.     ya go ahead making decisions on a simple song from paul to julian lennon who also was called. why i don't know. the boys were a little high that day probably from pot. at the end of the verses the just kept on for a couple of minutes with the la-la-la=lala and paul was carrying on with his hey jude every few seconds. so that makes hey jude a very short song into a classic. i remember my friend coming back from college in florida and freaking out cause they never played the whole song in florida

    Judas is a key slang word for heroin meaning "a friend that betrays you" Jude is short for Judas. The genius in the song in in the double meanings. Yes, cleverly written for a Lennon's son.
