Let It Be Lyrics
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let...

PAUL circa-1994: "One night during this tense time I had a dream I saw my mum, who'd been dead ten years or so. And it was great to see her because that's a wonderful thing about dreams, you actually are reunited with that person for a second... In the dream she said, 'It'll be alright.' I'm not sure if she used the words 'Let it be' but that was the gist of her advice, it was 'Don't worry too much, it will turn out okay.' It was such a sweet dream I woke up thinking, 'Oh, it was really great to visit with her again.' I felt very blessed to have that dream." -

No, nothing. By the way, all of these interpretation (right or wrong, or stupid) are why the Beatles are so great...It's all about ambiguity, because no matter what the actual song meant, it means different things to different people

Ok, I love this song, and I love it for the one reason that it DOESNT have any "hidden meaning" or "special reasons" its just an ambiguous song telling people to cheer up, get on with there lives, don't worry that... ya dogs died, or your girlfriend has left you, what ever, just LET IT BE! and things will be ok. I think trying to reed to far into this will spoil it and stop it from been a globaly "feel good" kinda thing. As for the "mother Mary" bit, I just interpret that as been a symbol of someone loving to look after you and cheer you up, a "mother" figure to tell you it will all be ok.

The title is pretty much self explanatory.
When you:
•Find yourself in times of trouble
•See the broken hearted people living in the world agreeing that there'll be an answer
•Notice that the night is cloudy but there's still a light that shines on you
•and see Mother Mary speaking words of wisdom...
Let it be.
I also think that whoever wrote this song is going silly in the head and he just leaves it alone to be safe. -

The song gives us different scenarios of problems affecting us as people, and comforts us that no matter what the problem maybe affecting you, there is a solution to it. Therefore, we should not dispair.

I just think like someone said, no way if my mother was name mary i would call her mother mary. So i think this most have been for the virgin mary and paul just did not want to asummed responsabilities.

I like to think part of it was to their fans about their split.
"For though they may be parted
there is still a chance that they will see
there will be an answer
Let it Be"
I've heard a few theories and the magic IS that you can take from it what you will. -

Is it possible that it was also devine inspiration; knowing that the Mother Mary everyone knows said to Angel Gabriel in reply to God: "Let it be done unto me according to Thy word". And that now I am inspired by the Beatles Song in an entirely different way. Anyone else?

Ok, first of all, if you REALLY want to know why he wrote the song, then why don't you just ask someone who is smart enough to know, or look it up!
Besides why are you spending so much time arguing over a song! It doesn't matter who it was written by, or what made them do it, it's about why the song was written, and how it makes such a big impact on life!
Whoever wrote it, they must have been smart enough to realize that it doesn't matter if your dog dies, or if you lose something valuable. What matters in your life, is YOU! That's all you need to worry about. How you want to live your life, and how you want to get things done! Sometimes if you're down, you just need to roll up your sleeves, and shrug it off. It doesn't mean you're heartless, it means that you won't let anything drag you away from your path on your way to greatness. -

Basically this song tells the people to having faith in god we trust, be strong in whatever circumstances they faced, hope, love, wisdom etc.
And remember there's always someone out that care and love you. I do.

the song is inspired by paul's mother. he came to him in a dream saying something along the lines of, " you'll get through through this. just let it be."

It just finally occurred to me that "let it be unto me even as you have said" is what Mary said to the angel, at the annunciation. The song sounds religious with the churchy organ. I think the song is great. It took me 41 years to get that about Mary's actual words in the Bible. Paul McCartney is being cagey if he won't admit it.

The Beatles were an English band popular worldwide in the 1960s. The song, released in March 1970, was written by Paul McCartney after he had a dream about his deceased mother, which inspired him to write “Mother Mary” for his mom. This song sounds very relaxed. There is a chorus in the background. For me, it means to let your problems go behind and follow your words of wisdom. It could be perceived as someone holding onto their faith (Mother Mary was the mother of Christ) despite the bad things, and that if you don't forsake your faith, there will be an answer as long as you let it be and don’t question it.

Paul wrote this when the Beatles were fighting and he wanted to stop the fight. he had a dream that his mother came to him and told him how to stop the fight. She told him that he should write a song about it so the others would relise that they should get on with life. that is what i think atleast.

He is saying that when life is draggin you down to the point were you just feel like giving up.. Let it be and take some good time to think happily, and there will be an answer, as there is for everything.

I think he probably wrote it about his mother and not the Virgin Mary, but I think it's great that it can be heard that way as well, and that's usually how I listen to it.
We should all just "let it be" and stop attacking each other for interpretations of a song that is wonderful no matter how you interpret it!!! (unless you go with the stinky feet version..:P)
