Song Released: 1968

Piggies Lyrics

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger...

I think George Harrison is talking about Piggies as greedy people, because he said, "They don't care what goes on around," and he said "Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon" which I think means they really only care about themselves and food.
I don't think that this song is about police and military and all that stuff.

I heard it's about racism- whites vs blacks way back when. "white shirts" could symbolize color-- but that's what I heard so maybe

This is about the rich class and middle class. The big piggies who stir up the dirt are the rich people who get rich off of the dirty work by the middle class "little piggies". they stir up the dirt "making the work harder and taking enjoyment from it." they always wear fancy starched white shirts. when they go out to dinner, they eat bacon that comes from the little piggies, which pretty much means they get their pleasure from the other piggie's suffering.

"Have you seen the little piggies

"Have you seen the bigger piggies
    In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies
    Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in"

I agree that this song is about the Army, but I'm going to say that this song has a dual meaning to it. The second verse is about the Government and Generals stirring up the "dirt", aka the war. The first verse is were the dual meaning really comes in for me. I think it has a lot to do with the soldiers being portrayed as pawns for the Gov, as are the citizens, therefore they are the little piggies being corrupted by the bigger piggies. I agree with whoever it was the made the comment about the last two lines being about the Generals going out to eat with their wives, and the soldiers eating their rations. I'm listening to the original version of this, and in this one the last line is: To pick up their pork chops

This song to me is about the government and the military. The little piggies are the soldiers or the lower positions in government. The big piggies in the starched white shirts are the high up people in government or the generals in the army. When they talk about them having dirt to play around in they are talking about war and corruption since pigs are always in dirt and politicians are always in corruption and generals and soldiers are always in war. When they talk about the big piggies out to dinner with their piggy wives they are talking about the generals going to dinner with their wives while the soldiers have to eat rations. When they say that all the piggies need a damn good whacking they are saying that the piggies need some sense knocked into them so that they could realize what their actions are doing. To me the pig grunts throughout the song and especially at the end sound like machine gun fire which suggests that the song is mostly about the army

this is about the government and the citizens. The citizens are the little piggies while the piggies in the starch white shirts are people in the government or "the man."
