This anti-lovesong is pretty straightforward. It is an expression of the raw emotions one (guy or girl) experiences after being dumped. The chorus--"give me my money back, you bitch"--is not so much the exposure of a shallow, material-based perspective hidden during the relationship, but it is an angry call for a reckoning. It says, "I put so much into this relationship that now I can't get back. I want back what I invested in you."

This song is about the drummer of the band, he took out his girlfriend on one date and they went to taco bell and then she broke up with him on her porch. and then ben folds wrote a song about it.

I like the joke interpretations. People read way too much into their music sometimes.

This is straightforward: he goes on a date with the chick, and she only tells him AFTER he paid for dinner that she wanted to break up. If she wanted to break up, why didn't she save him the cash and tell him before blowing $5 on some tasty Taco Bell?

I'd want my money back, too.
