It is about the disintergration of society's values.
Examples:
"But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah"
Racism is being expressed in violent/humiliating methods nowadays.

"As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction"

Materialism is getting more common. Making money seems to be the most important thing in people's minds now.

"Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema"

It seems that the youth are easily influenced by the media. This leads to the rise in juvenile crime and violent acts.

I think the writers are trying to open the eyes of Americans. It points to hypocrisy that is prevalent in the United States; 'do as I say, not as I do.' It says that yes, people in other countries do bad but look at what WE are doing here. We are oppressing each other. We kill each other. We kill children in other countries (collateral damage). It makes the comment that we aren't getting the truth from mainstream media or our government. There is more to the world than what you see on TV. It is a reminder that love dispells anger. Look to the peacemakers. It is a hope that things will change.

It's about our world turning darker and darker in these days where people don't really care about what they say or do.

Here is the interpretation:
"whats wrong with the world mama? people livin' like they aint got no mamas. I think the whole world is addicted to the drama." That means people are living their lives with no meaning, doing a lot of stupid things. And that they're addicted to soap operas and other crap and never care about what's going on in the real world.
"...only attracted to things that bring the trauma. overseas yeah we tryin' to stop terrorism, but we still got terrorism, livin' here in the USA. The CIA, the blood and the (something) and the KKK" That means people like violent movies which ties in with "addicted to the drama". The other part means that the troops are in Iraq trying to stop terrorism but the CIA is not telling us something. That there is something really bad kept secret. Hence the "but we still got ter'rism livin' here in the USA"
"But if you only have love with you own race, you only leave space to discriminate. and to discriminate only generates hate. and when you hate you bound-ta get awry... and that's how anger works like a parasite" That means you have to respect other races or you'll turn into a paranoid racist. In my opinion, true but exaggerating.
"people killing, people dying, children hurt and liv-and cryin'. when you practice what you preach... father father help us, with some guidance from above. There's people got me got me question me. Where is the love?" Tht means they disagree with the war on Iraq. The singer is praying to God to help him figure out how to restore peace in Iraq.
"always in change. new days a-strange, is the world insane? If love and peace is so strong, then why do (something) that don't belong? nations dropping bombs, chemical gases filling lungs of little ones with ongoin' suffering" That means the world is changing. That he doesn't understand why we preach love and peace but our troops are in Iraq dropping bombs and killing.
"... as the youth ask himself, 'what is wrong with this world that we livin' in?' 'people keep on giving in, making wrong decisions, without respecting each other' "
That means the youth of america is getting discouraged from making good choices to help this country because there's all these bad role models around them.
"the war's going on but the reason's undercover. The truth is kept secret... If you never know truth, then you never know love. where's the LOVE y'all? (I don't know!) where's the truth y'all? (I don't know!)" that means he's criticizing the government for being so sketchy about the war and other things. That there is no good reason for it and they aren't going to admit even though everybody knows the war is wrong (which I agree with).
"I feel the weight of the world on my shoulda. as I'm gettin older y'all people get colder... only care about money makin. Somethin's just gotta be follow-in the wrong direction... Whatever happened to the values of humanity? Whatever happened to the fairness and equality? Instead of hope we spreadin animosity. That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under. That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down." that means he thinks people now are getting too matirealistic. He misses the old days when people respected each other and had their values.
PS: does anyone know what the video for this means? I am thiclose to getting the meaning but...

It's about how the world is going down because of hate and selfishness of people these days. Also all the crap on media making both sides looking stupid seeing that there is no end to this war, and seeing how kids these days wanna act on what they see on t.v. For Example: All these rappers and stuff, seeing all these young kids dressing up like "Gangstas" is stupid. and yet we ask are self.. Why do we do it? Why do they hate us? What have we done wrong? What are we doing to are self?

This song is an observation of how the world is becoming more corrupt and hate-filled. If you read the lyrics, it talks about how most people are worried about the war overseas, when we should really worry about the violence and the problems that arise in our own nation. In times when we focus on "fighting for freedom" or "defending ourselves against terrorism" we forget that we are human beings because hate turns us into barbarians. If we embrace the fact that everyone is different and we learn to accept that and love each other for our differences, than maybe we can overcome our problems together and live in peace. Thats the type of message I got from this song.

This song is obviously commenting on the war in Iraq... America's dedication to the war is due to our largely popular christian beliefs. "can you practice what you preach and would you turn the cheek" The song comments on God helping us out as the Christian religion has failed to do so in its own hypocrisy of taking the righteous path by killing thousands of Muslims.

The song is about exactly what the title is asking. Where is the love?

The bible says: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Look around you. Think about the relationships you have with people. Is it really love?

This song is telling us what this world of ours is turning into without love, true genuine love. It states all these awful things that are going on in the world. Not to bring you down nor to make you feel guilty BUT to open your eyes. To love people. Not just your family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend. To selflessly love others as well.

It's about how there is no love, and without love, you cannot make peace, only leading to war.

everyone here thinks this song is about the war in iraq. that is but a small part of the true meaning of this song. this song refers to the fight against racism that took place in our country. it talks about how kids are getting involved in gangs and caught up in a whole lot of crap that should be avoided. people are being killed form these decisions people are being hurt nothing good is coming from the surplus of hate that this country has for numerous and absurd things such as war in iraq when we should not be there anymore. we are worrying about problems that are occurring in other countries rather than fixing out situation. we need to fix our situation. we cant be going to war as it says in the song "if you practice what you preach then you turn the other cheek" this is not only referring to war but also minor issues that take place here in the united states whether it be racism or anything at all. this song is basically calling out all of the hatred and all of the un-needed crap that takes place in todays society
