#1 top rated interpretation:everyone here thinks this song is about the war in iraq. that is but a small part of the true meaning of this song. this song refers to the fight against racism that took place in our country. it talks about how kids are getting involved in gangs and caught up in a whole lot of crap that should be avoided. people are being killed form these decisions people are being hurt nothing good is coming from the surplus of hate that this country has for numerous and absurd things such as war in iraq when we should not be there anymore. we are worrying about problems that are occurring in other countries rather than fixing out situation. we need to fix our situation. we cant be going to war as it says in the song "if you practice what you preach then you turn the other cheek" this is not only referring to war but also minor issues that take place here in the united states whether it be racism or anything at all. this song is basically calling out all of the hatred and all of the un-needed crap that takes place in todays society

I think, the song "Where is the Love " it showing or it tells us where is the love. He find the love that he didn't find to the people who he loves. It tells us that love is important and love is free, so why the others can't give their love. Love is free to give so give it free.

There is a range of poetic sources in this song such as similes, repetition and alliteration. For similes, there is a part that said: “that election looks like a joke” this is allowing us to make an image in our head of what is the election like. Next is repetition, there are some examples in it such as “Father, Father, Father, where is you love gone?” this part is making us think why the song repeated “Father” and the meaning of it. The last language feature I found is alliteration, the example for this is, “What happened to the love and the values of humanity? (Where's the love?) What happened to love and fairness and equality? (Where's the love?) Instead of spreading love, we're spreading animosity (Where's the love?) Lack of understanding leading us away from unity” this part is asking us questions to think for the answer and understand the author's purpose of this song. These are the three main language features that made this protest song an inspirational song to many people and me.
