   i wouldnt read the lyrics in the same way. yes it is armageddon, but i think its more about human fault. the first verse is about war and how people kill each other, the second is about the government taking over peoples minds and repealing their freedom, and the last is about people who wave around solutions and quick fixes like many interpretors of religion do.

   This song is about nuclear destruction. It was written by several young men who grew up in a town called Aston, and lived around the time of the cold war. Aston was a factory town.    I thing that this song is about the negative side of the scientific progress and how can it finally lead to the extinction of humanity. While the mankind keeps evolving, it will be destroyed by the machines it created for slaves.So, the song is about the danger of limitless research or something...
