I think it's about a Marine the day he leaves he wife and head out to be in the Navy. I don't think anyone out there has a different opinion.

In the concert that I attended tonight, Justin stated that he wrote the song in response to watching soldiers wishing their families farewell in an airport while the band was traveling on tour. He said that it was so moving that he was compelled to write something about it.
