He had just been freed from jail, The sheriff thought he was trouble and decided to take the law into his own hands. In attempting to kill the storyteller, the storyteller killed the Sheriff. Evidently, a deputy was killed, but not by the story teller. A allusion to nefarious activities on the PO PO. They were trying to frame him for a murder he didn't commit, instead of the one he committed in self defense. At the end of the song, he indicates this type of injustice will no be tolerated forever. bufo
