Hospital for Souls Lyrics
anonymous Mar 1st, 15:11 report
Oli said once that he was bullied at school and he had some friends like him they were all bullied and they 'sits in circles and stay unspoken' cause he said he was shy and he was staying unspoken everytime. maybe.
and after this, it can be about depression for sure. i know that feeling and it describes all of my feelings.

It's putting ideas towards self-harm, starvation and depression of different types... Oli gets a strong message across about the difficulty of living with such mental illnesses and it can be very relatable to people...

I believe its about recovering from self harm and to let people who care about you, help you get through it. "Have you ever taken a blade to your wrist, have you been skipping meals? We're going to try something new today how does that make you feel?" I truly believe this song is about recovery.

I think it's about a mental hospital. "The fragile, the broken, sit in circles and stay unspoken" is referring to the group therapy."Have you ever took a blade to your wrists? Have you been skipping meals? We're gonna try something new today, how does that make you feel?" refers to individual therapy. When he talks about being powerless, the feeling of being in a psych ward is hopeless and feeling trapped and powerless. "Silent halls & nameless faces." refers to the facility and the people in it.

I think the whole song is obviously about depression but also the things oli went through. With the lyrics 'The days are a death wish' , 'Have you ever taken a blade to your wrist' , 'Have you been skipping meals' and repeating 'I am powerless' throughout the song he's basically describing depression. Trust me I self harm, am depressed and have anorexia and this song describes how it feels so perfectly only someone who went through it themselves could depict it so well.

i alwayse thought oli had some kind of gift that could also be calleda curse depending on what you believe in. i think there is something in him being quite a huge fan myself. i just cant piont it out or explaine...i feel like he's done something -he talks about freaquently- that haunts him it seems he regrets this. i dont think there is any further way to explain myself... you'd just need to have some backround information about sertain things i guess.

I always thought 'hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn' was about someone watching him mentally 'fading away' as in falling into depression, and 'have you ever took a blade to your wrists? have you been skipping meals? were gonna try something new today, how does that make you feel?' relates to therapy, I mean, that is what they repetitively ask in therapy (believe me, i have to go at least once a week, and it sucks) so yeah

I found this in kerrang magazine-April 6 2013.
Oli: " This song has a spoken-word section, where I sum up everything I went through. It's about going through a dark place, thinking through a load of stuff and being reborn. That's the album's message"
anonymous Sep 20th, 9:14pm report
This song is about a person's inner struggle with depression and therapy.
anonymous Sep 3rd, 2013 9:40am report
When he says "hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn" I think he means "say goodbye to the old you and welcome a new one" since this song refers to depression a bit

When he says "Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobodie wants to die, I can fear death no longer, I've died a thousand times..." I think it refers to Reincarnation

I think it's about a boy/girl in a mental hospital. The part where he's singing is how he feels about being there and how powerless him and his fellow peers feel to their illnesses. Then when he starts screaming, he's saying stuff that a therapist would normally ask you. So when he starts screaming, it's from the counselors point of view. I think Oliver is trying to say its hard for counselors to see their patients this way and to ask all these questions about cutting, "how you feel" and "do you wanna talk about it."

This song is like many other songs. Each song from each artist is mean't to mean whatever you want it to. This song could mean something different to every single person that listens to it. That's whats cool about music you can interpret the lyrics anyway you believe. For me having been through depression, eating disorder, self harm, etc. This song means a lot, because it's as if he is talking to me specificaly. But, whatever you have been through can change the song meaning and that is what musics all about. :)

'The days are a death wish' when depression hits a person even simple tasks become harder, such as getting up in the morning, I know it is never easy waking up but when a person so depressed wakes up it is so much harder to face the problems of everyday life, a person wishes they would never wake up.
I think they wrote this song to really communicate with their fans. 'Have you ever taken a blade to your wrist, or have you been skipping meals' is what some of their fans might be stuggling with and by writing this song they hope to give their fans some hope.

i think this song is about depression. 'have you ever took a blade to your wrists? have you been skipping meals? were gonna try something new today, how does that make you feel?' suggests that he wants to help someone with depression. but he goes on to say 'hold me close, dont let go, watch me .... hold me close, dont let go, watch me Burn' indicating now he has depression too?
just my opinion, love this song its my favorite from this album
