Carrie Underwood: Blown Away Meaning
Blown Away Lyrics
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was a mean old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weatherman called for a twister
She prayed blow it down
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma

I think like most of you, that the song is about a little girl who locks herself during a tornado and leaves his father who has passed out due to an excess of alcohol, but i feel there is also a deeper feeling. In my opinion, the tornado represents growing up, leaving your past behind. "Til theres nothing else standing", "nothing left of yesterday", "all blown away..". The girl had a traumatic and difficult childhood, and she needs to overcome it. "Theres not enough wind in Oklahoma, to rip the nails out of the past", meaning that it is difficult for her to overcome her trauma just like that and get over the problems she had when she was little with her dad. The expression "rip the nails" is used because it is hard to forget her past, to rip the nails of her past from her heart. Also, the "storm clouds" and "lightings" may represent the moments when her father got agressive with her. So what do you think? Do you agree with me?

A little girl who is living with her abusive alcoholic father, who killed her mother, when the news reports a tornado coming. So she leaves her drunken, asleep father on the couch, and hides in the cellar; hoping that the storm will blow away her house and the memories of her father beating her and her mother, taking her father with it. (Basically she wants him dead) Hope this helps you guys! These lyrics are powerful, and it may sound a bit creepy, but it's touching. (: BYE!

The song is anout an abusive alcoholic dad who lives in Oclahoma with his daughter as he has killed his wife because of the drinking problems he is facing…Her mother is described as an ‘angel’ so we can assume she had done nothing wrong to deserve to be treated abusively by her husband. We don’t know whether his daughter was abused too or she had just witnessed his cruel behaviour towards her mother and finally her death caused by him.The rain that drops from the sky is not capable enough to wash away the sorrow and misery inside that house. So when a tornado is coming , she locks herself in the cellar in order to survive and abandons her dad who has passed away on the couch (he has passed away obviously due to drinking problems) and she wishes he would die… in this way she will be able to forget of her bitter past inside that house full of her father’s sins. And ‘nothing will be left of yesterday’… -

This girl has been abused by her father that has a drinking problem. Her mother is dead. A tornado is coming and she hides. She first findes her dad pasted out and trys but couldn't wake him up. She hid in the cellar and hoped that everything she has taken from her father will go away (she wanted her father dead.)But, for her, the her horrible past cannot go away even though the prolem is gone. She says there is not enough wind in Oklahoma to destroy everything. This is like real life because that little girl will always remember it, but won't have anymore experience. I hope this is helpful.

There is a young woman, who lives in a house with her sexually/physically abusive father who killed her mother. When a tornado comes she locks herself in the cellar hoping that her father and the entire house of sins in which she witnessed gets blown away, do that she can continue her life trying to forget about him. Strong Song :)

Basically, the young woman lives with her abusive Father and she wants revenge on her Father for being so abusive towards her and that night, when the tornado hits, she leaves her Father on the couch to die and locks herself in the storm cellar.

to me the storm represents her anger at her father. it says " those storm clouds gather in her eyes". it also says " some people called it taking shelter , she called it sweet revenge ". she's so mad at her dad for killing her mom that she gets "storm clouds in her eyes."

The song is about a wife teaming up with her husband’s mistress so as to get their revenge by conspiring his murder. The story starts with the wife finding the other woman’s number on her husband’s mobile phone as she is suspecting that something is wrong. So she calls the number and thus she finds out about the immoral affair of her man with another woman. Not only is the wife unaware of the existence of the mistress but also the mistress is unaware of the existence of his wife, hence the husband lies and cheats on both women. So they decide to get their vengeance by killing him. The first time that the two women see each other face to face is at the funeral. They both throw a handful of dirt into the ground and lay a rose down. These are regular customs of burying a dead person. In spite of the fact that the two women both wear black veils none of them is truly sad or even regretful for the crime they secretly commited as they don’t even bother to cry.The climax of the plot is when the two women ‘’share a smile before they walk away’’, which implies that the two women are satisfied as their target was accomplished. As Carrie mentioned we can assume that the two black cadillacs is the gift that the man offered to both women. The two women share the secret of killing the man who deceived them just like the man kept the secret about the two affairs.Hence ‘’ he’s not the one who has a secret to hide’’. (The music video has not been released yet...)

The video is about a girl whose mother died after the father had got drunk and killed her. Then he still continued to drink thinking it would take away the memories but he now abuses his daughter. His daughter wishes that a storm would just take away all the bad memories. Her father drunk the day the storm was coming and binged drinked until he passed out on the couch. The storm was nearly there when the daughter tried waking up the dad. But she eventually had to leave because the storm was getting closer and she still felt that taste for revenge. So she left him and went to the feller crying for what she had done but still feeling the ease for revenge. So after the storm she went outside to see that her house was no longer there.

It's about a girl that lives with her abusive and alcoholic father and he obviously killed her mother while drunk when she did nothing wrong and the girl finds out that there is going to be a tornado she tries to wake her father and save him but she fails so she locks herself in a cellar and she hopes that the tornado blows the house away taking her father with it in the line "every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away " means all the abusive memories gone and at the end she refreshes her life and gets a new start and is happy again and that's what I think it means.

The song is about a dad who is a drunk and may have been abusive to his wife. She died and is called an angel because she did nothing wrong to deserve death. The mother may or not have been killed by the father.
The daughter notices a storm/tornado coming and she hides in the cellar of their house. She left her dad on the couch who was passed out from being so drunk.
The daughter wishes all the pain and sins would wash away with the storm but its never enough. -

At first glance this song seemed simple, enjoyable and easy to understand.
Off-hand I thought it was about a girl who lived with her alchoholic / possibly abusive father. When the storm came and she was unable to wake him up, she took shelter and almost felt as if she was getting revenge on him for the life she had lived because of him.
After listening to the lyrics a few more times I started to feel a little uncomfortable.
1.) How did her mother die?
2.) Was her father greiving over his wifes death?
3.) In the video you can obviously tell that her father is angry and upset but what we can't determine is the cause of those feelings. At one point he spits in the mirror, does this symbolize his disgust with himself and how he is?
4.) Does the girl in the video understand any of this or does she just think of herself? I ask because in the video the father doesnt seem "to bad" yet she ignores him when he asks her a polite question. After which he grabs her arms when she goes to get up and tells her "I am still your father". -

I think like most of you it means that she grew up with an abusive father. I also think like some of you that she is older not a young girl anymore because of the "there's not enough wind in Oklahoma to rip the nails out if the past". This points to her thinking back to a hard childhood. Also if you watch the music video to this song it helps to understand it better, I got most of this from the song, but the music video made it more clear what was going on.

Just to clarify... She doesn't want the dad dead, if you watch the video she's trying to wake him up.

This is about a girl that lives with her father that is cruel, abusive and a alchoholic. When she hears news about a twister, she runs home trying to save her father who is passed out on the couch, but fails. So she knows he's a goner(but still tried to save him) so she goes and locks herself in the family cellar regretting what she did by disobeying her dad and fighting with him, and at the end she runs away to find a new home.........and be free! But still upset about her dad :(
