I've seen many people say that this song is based on trade and world politics. While that might be the case, when I heard this song it touched a personal base with me. To me, this song is about finding oneself. It's about a person who has been searching for some meaning and has hit a brick wall. "Everyone must find their place..." So the person asks for what he has been trying to find "Give me time and give me space, Give me real don't give me fake, Give me strength and self control, Give me heart and give me soul..." At the chorus its as though another person is singing the song. At this point the lines read " Open up your eyes..." multiple times...telling the lost person that he needs to look beyond what he "thinks" he sees and really look hard at what he wants. The person searching for something asks the person who tells him to "open up his eyes" to "Tell me your own politik" so that maybe, just maybe he can find or make his own politik (politik seems to be the meaning of life that someone holds) In the end, what the person really is looking for is love....plain and simple love....something that although seems simple enough is hard to achieve in life.

To be completely honest, I see this on a very personal level. It's like he's explaining to the listeners to find their innerselves. Dive into your inner mind, see what's really there, and not just what you see in front of your eyes. With all of that, he says to give me heart and give me soul. Those are the only things we all really need to see and be who we really are.
