This song is about losing your virginity. They have kissed before, the line "my hopes are so high" refers to the first time having sex. This is also refenced in the line "so we can get some."

The title hands down isn't meant to be taken literally, it has nothing to do with his hands, the phrase hands down means without competition, as in this is clearly the best day of his life.

Actually it's about the best day of his life. He says it everytime he performs this song.

This song is about the emotional and physical connection that the writer and his girlfriend have. Some of you are saying that it is about the first time they kiss, but if you look closer it isn't. They clearly haven't only kissed, they have slept together. "The words are hushed lets not get busted/just lay entwined here/undiscovered/safe in here from all the stupid questions/'hey did you get some?'/man that is so dumb/stay quiet stay near stay close they can't hear/so we can get some"

He basically says his heart belongs to her, communicating his emotnional attachment to her. Ultimately he is just replaying that day with the girl over in his mind. good song.

The guy has been pursing the girl for a while and she's finally coming around. It's almost like it's a forbidden relationship how he's talking about the best day of his life and he's just taking in every moment: the sound of the stereo, the smell of her hair. Its like he's worked so hard for her and now he's finally getting it. Great song.

It's about firsts. All and any firsts
first date
first kiss
first time
first love
That first great relationship.

I think this song is about a guy who loves this girl very much and he doesn't care if the kiss kills him. At the end of the night he DOES kiss her. I really like this song because of how much Chris goes into detail about the date. It shows that it meant a lot to him.

One. You guys obviously aren't paying attention; the reason it's called HANDS DOWN is because it's an obvious, clear, and definite reference to the line IN THE SONG "Hands Down this is the best day I can ever remember." The whole song's about what I like to call the 'walk home,' the time when you consider what happened that day, and you either feel really good about how fun it was, or unsatisfied at how boring it was, or really bad because you were an ass or whatever you feel; he's thinking about the time he spent with this woman, that's really all.

I'm sure you've all had good days that didn't involve losing your virginity.

“Hands Down” is about two people who are having a forbidden relationship, he just can’t resist her. In: “My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury, or wear as jewelry, which ever you prefer”, means he loves his partner so much that he doesn’t care how she treats him, just as long as their relationship exists for a while, just as long as they get a few good memorable moments together. In: “My hopes are so high, that your kiss might kill me, So won't you kill me, so I die happy”, means he was hoping for something more than a kiss, but he’ll take whatever he can get.(Like come on, they’re already not supposed to be together!) The writer (the boyfriend) is saying this song to his girlfriend, reminding her that what they felt was real, and that she meant all of those things. He doesn’t want her to just throw it all away like it was nothing. He knows their love was real; he can’t stand it that she doesn’t realize that, or she just doesn’t want to believe it. It makes him so heartbroken, sad, and depressed.

I love this song it means so much to me and my boyfriend as it helped us over come our fear of making or relationship sexually. I think that the song menas that a boy lieks his girlfriends a lot, he loves her, all he wants to do is kiss her. Her and him kissing is the only thing he wants. In the end it happens, which is what he's singing about. The part when he sings the words are hushed lets not get busted;
just lay entwined here, undiscovered.
Safe in here from all the stupid questions.
"hey did you get some?"
man, that is so dumb.
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear...
So we can get some. I think that means that they end up making love and he's soo happy this is hown ands down this is the best day I can ever remember,. Thank you very much 1!!

You people clearly aren't paying attention. The writer(chris; the boyfriend; the man) is talking about his friend( the girl; the female; his lover) who he really wants, and want to get with. But he hasn't got with her YET!!!! He is building up to that day. And trying to make her want him too. And when he finally gets with the girl. Its "HANDS DOWN" the best day of his life. They end up kissing("with your hands on my waist and you kissed me,
but you meant it") so he did get with the girl

This song is about all the details of how a person feels on a first date. The singer is reflecting on all the feelings, expectations, and the way things turned out. If you ever really liked someone and finally got a chance to go on a date with them, I'm sure you can completely relate to all or most of the words to this song.

Look, Hands Down is the last song of the So Impossible EP, and its the last song for a reason. The first three songs are the build up. 1.)For you to notice - about getting the girl to notice him. 2.) So Impossible - Getting to know the girl, and arranging a date. 3.) Remember to Breath - Getting ready for the date. 4.) Hands Down - the date itself. Its their first date after all the build up and its the best day he will ever remember.

The way that I take the song is it describes the feeling you get when you first fall in love with someone. The way you feel when you see them, the way they feel when they touch you, when you just die to kiss them just one time, when you do kiss them especially if the kiss is very sensual, it is very worth it.

The song definitely has references to that giddy phase of a relationship. The first little while when everything is brand new, and no one else matters but that new girl. He even ditches the whole macho male stigma and basically tells his friends to mind their own business when they ask if he's gotten any yet. He respects her, and he doesn't want to share her with anyone else.

"Hands Down" has nothing at all to do with his actual hands. It's just a saying emphasizing surety. Kind of like saying "bar-none" or "for sure".

This song is about him going on a date and having sex with a chick that he really likes and then walking home, that's it, nothing deep at all, it's a good description but not a mystery at all, and the hands down thing is not worship it's like there's no competition look at the whole line, "hands down, this is the best day I can ever remember." that has nothing to do with worshipping I think if he wanted it to be about worshipping he would have written it like that, nothing ambiguous about this song at all sorry to say.

This song is just about two new lovers having a date. . The guy being so nervous but happy to be in touch with the girl. . I can also say that the guy's feelings for the girl are sincere. at the end the song explains how he joined the girl to her way home then they stood in the front of the door the girl unexpectedly kissed the guy then he was thinking if the girl meant it or just by accident. . but really. . The girl meant it. . NICE SONG. .

This song is about a night in his life that he spent with a girl he loved. By talking about how being asked if he "got some" is dumb and the lack of details about exactly what took place that night shows us that he isn't planning on telling others about that night, it was personal and special to him. He is so happy with her that he feels like when she kisses him he is so happy he could die, and he would be okay with that b/c he would die happy. Also, since he keeps mentioning being undiscovered and quiet, they most likely either aren't supposed to be together, or they aren't supposed to be wherever they are. Personally, I think the girl snuck into his house.

Most of you retarded. Its not about that crap. If you listen to the whole ep you will get what hands down means. for you to notice the first songs is about this girl he likes so much but they have really talked. Then so impossible is about how the girl asked him to come to a party/date with her. and he talks about how he will go, and things he wants to learn about her. Then remember to breathe is about him getting ready for the date and how he panics but tells himself "remember to breathe". Then hands down is all about their first date, "my hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me, so won't you kill me, so I die happy" it's about how he's been longing for so long after her and now he does. Its all about the happiest day/moment of his life like he says before each he plays it

The song is about their relationship. The best night of it. In a way it's talking about how they don't do anything. He wants her to have him completely. It doesn't matter if they have sex or not. He still loves her. And no matter what they do hands down, it's the best day he can ever remember. And it seems as if she's never ready to really do anything or she's still confused on if he's the one. But once she kisses him like she meant it. everything changed. She realized how in love with him she really is.

Chris said, in the unplugged recording it's about the best date he ever had..

Basically he's extremely happy being with the girl. They hang out, and he is anticipating the next move/step, and it's getting him worked up. He's making himself vulnerable to the girl, but at the same time, he wants to keep her to himself (My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me./So won't you kill me, so I die happy./My heart is yours to fill or burst to break or bury or wear as jewelery,/which ever you prefer). They're probably hanging out with friends earlier or at a party and they later break away from the group. The girl probably suggest to return to the group for being gone too long, but he insists they hang out longer, because he wants to "get some". They're most likely close by the other people, but out of sight hence why he speaks to her quietly (The words are hushed lets not get busted/ just lay entwined here undiscovered./Safe in here from all the stupid questions../"hey did you get some?" Man, that is so dumb/Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear, so we can get some)
and at the end of the date, late at night, he walks her home and kisses her good night (the walk that we shared together/The street was wet and the gate was locked/ so I jumped it and let you in and you stood at the door/ with your hands on my waist and you kissed me,like you meant it).
