Like many others, I have a different interpretation of this song. I consider this as being my Evanescence theme song because it fits how I feel very well. Here's what the lyrics mean to me:
"How can you see into my eyes, like open doors? Leading you down into my core, where I've become so numb."
To me, this means: People will look into my eyes like open doors but will miss my emotion and the real me hidden behind my eyes. It'll lead them down into my core but they won't feel how numb I feel without myself.
"Without a soul, my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold. Until you find it there and lead it back home."
To me, this means: I usually feel without a soul. I feel like my spirit's somewhere. In a way, I'd say my spirit's in the computer. This is where I am awake. But it's like being awake in a dream. It's like my spirit's lost, not with me and needs to be led back to me.
"Wake me up. Wake me up inside. I can't wake up. Wake me up inside. Save me. Call my name and save me from the dark. Wake me up. Bid my blood to run. I can't wake up. Before I come undone. Save me. Save me from the nothing I've become."
To me, this means: I feel like I need to wake up. I feel like I'm asleep. I feel like I need to be waken up inside where my soul is sleeping. But I also feel like I can't wake up. I also feel like I need to be saved. I feel like my blood is frozen inside my veins and I need it to run before I truly become unreal. I feel like I've become nothing. I feel like without my soul, I'm truly nothing.
"Now that I know what I'm without, you can't just leave me. Breathe into me and make me real. Bring me to life."
To me, this means: I've learned that I'm without my soul and that the people in my life and myself can't leave me. I feel like I need to be made real. Like my soul needs to be brought to life, bringing me to life.
"Bring me to life. I've been livin' a lie. There's nothing inside. Bring me to life. Frozen inside without your touch, without your love darling. Only you are the life among the dead."
To me, this means: I feel like I need to be brought to life. That I've been living a lie. I feel like there's nothing inside. I feel frozen without my soul and without its love. But my soul is the life among the dead in a way.
"All this time, I can't believe I couldn't see. Kept in the dark, but you were right in front of me. I've been sleeping a thousand years it seems, got to open my eyes to everything. Without a thought, without a soul, without a life, don't let me die here. There must be something more."
To me, this means: For years I couldn't see who I really was. So to speak, I was "kept in the dark" but my soul was "right in front of me". Knowing who I was made me feel like I'd been asleep one thousand years and that I have to open my eyes, finally. I feel without a thought, without a soul, and without a lie and I don't want my soul to die. I know there must be something more for my soul.

This song is about numbness. Depersonalization that you get. It makes you feel dead inside. Unreal. Afraid.
Wanting someone to reach in and take you out of the void you are in.
It is emptiness. "Save me from the nothing I've become".

it is terrifying. why can everyone else feel and you can't. -

My interpretation of this song is:
First it sounds like a couple with an intimate relationship with someone who opens up new feelings...
It then sounds as if she has lost the love of her life and has gone into a depression and is asking someone to call her name and bring some happiness back into her life...
It then sounds like she has no meaning in her life.... Frozen without your touch lost without your love your the only life among the dead..... To me this again is like she is lost and that the person she lost is the only person who is able to bring her back to the living instead of being with what seems to be the dead... -

I think this song is about her searching for the right guy. Someone who is going to treat her better than the others that have come before him. A guy who is going to make her once shattered life, feel whole once more.

I think this song is about someone who has loved for the first time in a long time.
At the begining of this song she says "How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down in to my core, where i've become so numb" That paragraph makes me think that someone who she barely knows, can see what she feels inside, the things she loves the things she hates, etc....., so she decides to 'lead' this person down to her 'core' which i think means heart, and she has become so numb in her heart because she hasn't loved for ages, so that make me think she wants this person (could be a man) to un-numb her heart.
Then she says
'Without a soul, my spirit is sleeping somewhere cold, untill you find it there and lead it back home...'
By this i think she is saying to this man that I have no life in me (Because you don't have life without a soul) and she dosn't know how to find her spirit, basically find her self, so she is saying to him you've got to find a way to bring my spirit back and give me life, and that i can love.
Then it goes:
'Wake me up!'
'Wake me up inside!'
'Can't wake up!'
'Wake me up inside!'
' Save me!'
'Call my name and save me from the dark!'
'Wake me up!'
'Bid my blood to run'
I can't wake up'

When it goes 'wake me up inside' i think that her spirit is calling out to this man, and she is trying to lead the man to her spirit, basically a cry for help.
After, she says:
'now that i know what i'm without, you can't just leave me, breath, into me and make me real, bring me to life!'
I believe that when amy says that, she is saying she forgot how good it was to have a soul and to love, so she trlls the man you can't leave now you have to stay and help be alive, that she can't live without him!
then:
'Frozen inside without your touch, without your love, darling, only you are the life among the dead!'
She is saying that inside her is 'frozen without his love' so without it she is dead, and since she is dead he is the only cure to her survival and her life.
Then the man says:
All of this time i can't believe i couldn't see, kept in the dark but you were there in front of me'
He means that he can't believe that for ages that she was the one for him, but he just coudn't see that they were meant to be together!'
Amy says;
i've been sleeping a thousand years it seems, i've got to open my eyes to everything!'
She has not had a life for so long that now she has to learn to love again.
he says:
'Without thought, without mind, without soul.' he's saying the 'symptoms' if u like of what amy has.
she says:
Don't let me die here.
she is asking him not to leave her and not to lose her soul forever.
he says:
'there must be something more!'
He thinks there is another way to save her?
she says:
'Bring me to life!' she is still saying help!
and then it goes back to corous and it means she is still trying to lead him to her soul. well that's my interpretation everyone thank u!!!! :) -

This song to me is about her being in a abusive relationship and her friends and her met in a cafe and he asked her if she was happy and then she felt like he could ''see into my eyes like open doors leading you down into my core'' later on she married him :).

Well, it's like feeling empty. She wants someone to make her happy and she wants to live again. This song actually describes me perfectly. I feel empty inside and I want to be happy again. It is very beautiful.

It's about god. Breath into me- breath of life from book of genesis. Wake me up inside is the holy spirit.a promise from god after Jesus assends into heaven in the book of acts. This is a problem for a lot of people who call themselves Christian. She admits she's been "living a lie" there's nothing inside. Read the book of acts. I dare you.

I think this is about the singer being someone she doesn't want to be.
"I've been living a lie'=She was weak agenst peer presure when she was young or something. So, she becomes or does what everyone else is doing
'There's nothing inside'= After years, when she moves on or something, she's so just to being like everyone else, two faced.There's nothing unique about her anymore because she's like everyone else
'Bring me to life'= She realizes she doesn't want to be like everyone else. She wants to be herself, but needs help from someone because she's scared of being bullied again. -

this song is about someone being able to easily see into you, see who you really are instead of who you pretend to be. A person that is dead inside and frozen in the numbness of death. This person can bring you out, open up who you trully are and "bring you to life"

I agree with what everyone else is saying about this song.
But this song really hits me as a.. wake up call. Reminding anyone that is alive, but isn't really living? To Wake up, and realize that they're just living a fake life without meaning.
The beginning starts off with a "How can you see into my eyes like open doors"
and continues with "...without a soul, my spirit sleeping somewhere cold."
I think this part really shows how Amy or anyone who can relate to it is.. empty on the inside, and doesn't really have a purpose in life and can be easily read.
without a soul, the person is just sleeping and wasting his or her life in an area cold.
Another part that i really felt was..
"Save me from the nothing I've Become"
this reminded me of a time where I just sat there.. watching TV, gloating of all the pain i didn't want to face in real life.
Or when I just went to school did my work, hung out a bit, then went to sleep and did the same thing over and over again.
I think the repetitiveness of amy falling off the building backs me up in saying that.
We go in circles when we don't truly live.
So we need to take extremes sometimes.

well this song has many meaning i think.
first off i think its about a girl whos in love with this man but he doesnt love her back.shes unhappy and she wants him to help her be happy.in the end he sees that he DOES love her.

he is loving her.
it could also be about how shes unhappy and he makes her happy but leaves her.

I know that this song may have a lot of meaning to the writer and many of you as well.
I have heard this song many times on the radio without any thought to it.
Two weeks ago I was on Duty as a EMT and lost a 59 year old patient.
We did everything we could to save him. My shirt was soaking wet from doing compressions only stopping to shock his heart five times. We ended in the ER with the family watching. When the Doctor called it there was wailing and screaming. You never forget the sounds!
I hear the song and all I could do is see his face as we worked on him.
Now go back and listen to the song as if it were some one helpless and wanting to be saved in an ambulance!

she is prolly talking about how shes possessed. shes basically not alive anymore. she wants someone to wake her up. "bid my blood to run" she wants to kill herself but her state of pssession wont let her. she needs someone to save her from the dark. darkness is usually referred to as satan. she says she needs to be saved from the darkness. "save me from the nothing ive become" she wants to be saved from being souless she has become empty from possession. she needs someone powerful enough to save her from this state of disturbia as say jesus. this song can be view as begging jesus to save her from the evil entity that has cosumed her soul and left her empty. she is saying that she wants to be awakened, or brought back to life the "darkness" has left her dead. she is being controlled by this entity. she cant do anything for herself because she is vulnerable. she is not herself anymore she does know who she is and she cant wake up from possession. this is how i view the song. to me it makes the most sense if u think about it.
