I can't do a logical interpretation of this song justice. The music video might help you in understanding it. Signifigant is the focus of the movie on herself. The use of the mirror, her hating what was in the mirror; she hurts herself with what she sees. She tries to 'wash herself clean' in the bathtub, it would seem.

This song is about herself. She's singing to herself. She's lied to everyone about who she is, including herself. And when she sees it...

"I know the truth now
I know who you are
And I don't love you anymore"

Notice the line,

"But now I know she..."

also,

"Don't you see me?"

"You don't know how you betrayed me."

The other part of this is she knows her worldview was totally skewed, and now she sees clearly; a paradigm shift, if you will.

She is singing to herself. She betrayed herself; She hates who she was and who it made her. She recognizes she was fake and despises it, and knows that sho she pretended to be 'never was and never will be.'

Here's to you Daniel; You fooled us all.

I think it's about a girl who's mad at her self for being all these people and not being herself

I don't know exactly what the song is really suppose to mean, but I just think it means that Amy(I'm not saying this is about her, but it could possibly be. I don't know) is sick and tired of her lies. She's not herself anymore, and when she looks into the mirror she sees all the lies. You know that saying, "the mirror never lies", well that really say a lot in this song. Whenever I listen to the song, it reminds me of myself, and how I keep fooling others every single day. It gets to you after a while, because even though you can fool everybody else, you can't fool yourself. You know who you really are.

This song is about somebody you ["you" as in people in general] once knew very well and loved very much but then figured out they were only hiding behind a mask, not showing their true self. The relationship you had with that person was all a lie and you feel betrayed.

It's kinda wierd, because she goes from what sounds like a girl (I mean that's who she's talking to) and then going to talking to a guy.

For ex:

look here she comes now
bow down and stare in wonder
oh how we love you
no flaws when your pretending

that sounds like she's talking to a girl

I know the truth now
I know who you are
and I don't love you anymore

and that sounds like she's talking to a girl

I remember reading that this song is about how her little sister liked Britney Spears, and Amy told her how Britney was fake. Good song, by the way.

Obviously, it's about all these "fake", "cheesy" (same words used by amy lee herself in an interview) singers.

I think this is about how Amy Lee believes her fans think she is always happy, always feeling great when she's really not. Amy thinks that she wears a mask and that she hides behind the lie. She thinks that she has to wear a mask when in public to fake her happiness. She realises she is a fool.Xxx

I just think this song is about a total faker. And how amy see's this person for what they really are, a liar.

I believe this song is about celebrities that lie, or make themselves seem better (hence, the mask = hiding who they really are). Also, in my world, I can connect to popular people. They aren't perfect, and I can see through them.
People love them because they seem so great, but others see that they are not as great as they appear. Mainly, Amy MIGHT feel that a lot of people are very insecure, and they "put on masks" to make themselves feel better.

I think it's about Amy tricking everyone into thinking she's happy (because in the video she smiles at the mirror trying to look happy, and as their putting on her make up she's not smiling.) but truly she is troubled and lonely in her social life, she has low self esteem and doesn't feel good about herself.

Amy, I believe, personally said this song is about her sister. It's about what people see, v. reality. Since Amy alone can see the reality of the who the song is about, (if it's not actually about her sister) all the lies torment her. She feels distraught and powerless since everyone believes the lies instead of her.

i feel this song has a vibe that says: popularity. at schools, there are many diverse groups vaguely innertwining with others. for instance; there were, and always will be, a "popular" group of kids. I feel Everybody's Fool is a simple reminder that who you are during your school years very rarely stay along for the ride of life. The verse:'and somehow now you're everybody's fool' tell a large sum of the story behind the lyrics. The popular people may have made many a person feel inferior and they may have set themselves atop a fake pedestal, but, eventually, time will catch up with them and thay shall feel their own torment and despair.

Amy has said that this song is aimed twords Christina Agulara and Brittney Spiers (don't hate me if I spelled their names wrong) for using their bodies to get anywhere in music. And the part "look here she comes now, bow down and stair in wounder, oh how we love you, no flaws when your pretending" yeah it's talking about them and she thinks that women shouldn'y have to use their bodies to be famous or for anything.

I am pretty sure it was about Britney Spears cos Amy's sister liked her or something so she tried to show how much of a fake she actually is.

Yeah, I agree with you all. Well, partly. I don't agree with the Britney thing because I think it's for all celebrities(including herself,as you can see in the video clip). And this "look here she comes now, bow down and stare in wonder, oh how we love you, no flaws when you're pretending" part is about how female celebrities (I said female 'cause it sounds as if she's talking to a girl) act like they like each other but inside how they hate each other and maybe themselves, too, for acting like this. Shortly, it's all about "fake", but I don't think it's related to a specific person like Britney or Christina. But that's my opinion, anyway.

How the hell and more importantly, WHY the hell would Amy Lee want to sing about Britney Spears?! Why would anyone for that matter, want to write about her?! She's a has-been, end of!

I'm not going to say that I KNOW FOR A FACT what this song means, because no one but the beholder can claim this. However, I'll give my input as to what I believe it is about and if I am criticised for it then so be it - you're more narrow minded than I thought you were.

Basically, I think Amy has written this song about herself - maybe she doesn't like who she has become OR she didn't like what she became in the past.
"I know the truth now, I'm over you now"
She now knows the truth about herself, and is over the fact that she was what she was.

Anywhoo, thanks for listening (or reading, perhaps)

It's about a girl who tried to act like someone she isn't and thought that she was fooling everyone, but it turned out that all along, they could see right through the cover and they were mocking her all along.

Sorry for being really..real but Amy apparently wrote this one for her sister who idols herself after the likes of Brittney Spears etc. and she's trying to show her how fake they really are by acting them out.

Keep in mind her songs are extremely personal.

Amy's sister was becoming obsessed with Brittany Spears and other pop singers, and started dressing like them at I think it was age 7 or 8... So Amy told her that celebrities can't make your life perfect, their lives aren't perfect, and you should never copy someone just because it's popular. Then she wrote the song about it- her sister (Carrie I think?)inspired it
