Track number six on their seventh album "the open door" in a recent interview, amy lee explained the meaning of this song.
"I went through some weird experiences with stalkers. It's weird how it works. My lyrics are so intimate that people feel like they really know me, and I don't know them at all. My privacy had been completely invaded and there were a couple of nights where I couldn't stay at my house. So I wrote a song about it through the eyes of the stalker, and with my perspective, too."

There it is, I'm not trying to prove anyone wrong, but that was her reason for writing the song....Pretty much about how it feels being stalked, even though it's written from the stalkers and her point of view at the same time. Which explains the lines

"stoplight, lock the door"
i think this is pretty self explanitory.

"you belong to me
my snow white queen
there's nowhere to run so let's just get it over
soon my love you'll see
you're just like me
don't scream anymore my love
cuz all I want is you"

this is out of the view of the stalker, he wants her so bad, her feels like he knows her so well. So there you have it.

Frankly put, that first interpretation rocked. I just want to add that I read this interview with amy on aol, and apparently she's a "goth sex icon", as anyone can figure out for themselves. She had a very shocked response and seemed like she was repulsed by the mention of it. I wouldn't be surprised if she were to write a song about it. I mean, she's always playing it safe (ie not taking porno pictures or becoming a slutty celebrity), and yet people still love her for her figure...And think of her in a very "twisted" manner! Those people "don't know her". Any evanescence fan would know that amy is very conservative.

When I first listened to this song I thought it reflected a form of sexual abuse. I can see the beginning refering to a stalker, but
" wake up in a dream
frozen fear
all your hands on me
i can't scream
i can't scream"
stalkers 'stalk' more from a distance, this person has more control. It may not be a father though, I mean,
amy lee did say that this album was about getting over an abusive relationship. I think its just me, but I've noticed a lot of lyrics in fallen, anywhere but home, and open door that reflected sexual abuse, like this one.

Ummm, I think it's about stalking, but have you ever thought that it could have more meaning than one? I hate when people are like: "No, you're wrong." She may have written it b/c of stalkers, but an artist always wants to make a song open for interpretation. It could be universal, and to me, it is. It could be about abuse. It could be about aliens for god's sake (just making a point). A song is about how YOU relate to it.

that farther is so wrong, amy and her parents have a good realtionship and she ONLY writes about things she experiences.... but I guess everyone interprets what they know...lol

When I first heard this song, I thought it was ghostly sounding. For example, the chorus sounds as if some haunting is practically speaking this out loud to the haunted. When you feel haunted, you feel like you're trapped under it. The stalker explanation, I think is exactly right, but when I first heard this it sounded somewhat paranormal. But it's still a GREAT song.

Lawsuit
On December 1, 2005, former Evanescence manager Dennis Rider filed a lawsuit against Lee for breach of contract. The suit claims Rider was prematurely and unjustly terminated from his position as manager of Evanescence.

In return, Lee filed a counter-suit against Rider for "breach of fiduciary duty, sexual assault and battery, professional negligence, currency conversion, and other charges". The suit also claims Rider "neglected Lee's career and business and has focused his efforts on having extramarital affairs, hiding them from his wife, becoming intoxicated during business meetings, physically abusing women and boasting about it, making repeated unwelcome sexual advances toward Lee, receiving fees in excess of what was provided for in his management agreement and using Lee's corporate credit card to purchase gifts for his mistress."

I believe snow white queen is about Amy's former mamanger who sexually assulted her, and was physically abusive toward her.

"You'll never know the way, your words have haunted me, I can't believe you'd ask these things of me, you don't know me."

and

"Wake up in a dream, frozen fear, all your hands on me, I can't scream. I can't escape the twisted way you think of me, I feel you in my dreams, and I don't sleep."

And also the Chourus expresses the advances made toward amy by her past manager, and her feeling of being owned. "You belong to me, my snow white queen."

I thing indeed that this song is written for a stolker. It could also fit in with a rape and in purpose is written that way so that she shows the psycological rape. In some parts the words belong to amy and generally in refrain the words belong to the stalker. The stalker was expecting amy to understand him and save his life but amy knows she won't and his promblems and stalking makes her worry. She things of it even in bed.She has her own proplems to take care and don' t want to also fell more

"I can't save your life through nothing I blled for is more tormenting,...
I' m losing my mind and you just stand there and stare as my world divides"

So she feels safe and herself inside her dark house. But she stills fels the pressure(rape)

Boy at least she is wanted and I don' t think she has "that" promblems
She is acting "poetry" so she can come up with good personal songs

This is maybe about her being physically abused? Amy did say she was in an abusive relationship..thats just what I get from it?

I know what Amy Lee has said about it being about stalkers but I look at it another way.

I think it is about a girl being raped by an alcoholic. And the alcoholic or a drug addict is her father or her boyfriend (most likely her boyfriend because she has a good relationship with her father). He happens to be controlling too.

Unfortunately, I think I can make some personal connections.

"stoplight lock the door
undress in the dark
and hide from you
all of you"

When I felt like I was being watched, I locked the door, undressed quickly and hid under the blankets.

"You'll never know the way your words have haunted me
I can't believe you'd ask these things of me
You don't know me"

The girl still loves him but when someone speaks to you in an unpleasant way like rape, it stays in your mind. And the girl can't believe someone would ask her to do that.

"You belong to me, my snow white queen
There's nowhere to run, so let's just get it over
Soon I know you'll see you're just like me
Don't scream anymore my love, cause all I want is you"

I think this is the boyfriend/father saying this. He is saying you are mine and he finally has her in a room where she can't escape. And she is screaming but all he wants sex.

"Wake up in a dream
Frozen in fear
All your hands on me
I can't scream"

This is a time where the girl wakes up and sees him on top of her.

"I can't escape the twisted way you think of me
I feel you in my dreams and I don't sleep"

It is twisted to think about raping someone. And she can barely sleep because she is afraid.

"I can't save your life
Though nothing I bleed for is more tormenting
I'm losing my mind and you just stand there and stare
As my world divides"

She can't help is alcohol/drug problem and she fears it's going to be the end of the person. She feels like she is falling into a black hole right before his eyes and he isn't helping her.

That is just my interpretation though. Feel free to critique it.

When I first heard it, it sounded like it was an sexually abusive relationship.

"You belong to me,
my snow white queen
There's nowhere to run
so let's just get it over
Soon I'll know you'll see,
your just like me
Don't scream any more, my love
Cause all I want is you"

It sounds like he's forcing her to do things, with no remorse. He wants her to love him, but she can't. Not when he's like this.

I love this song, it's my favourite at the moment.

I think that it's basically just stating her fear of being stalked and everything. Think about it.
------------
**Wake up in a dream.**
Frozen fear.
All your hands on me.
I can't scream

I can't escape the twisted way you think of me.
**I feel you in my dreams and I don't sleep.**

You belong to me,
My snow white queen.
There's nowhere to run, so let's just get it over.
Soon I know you'll see,
You're just like me.
Don't scream anymore my love, 'cause all I want is you

I can't save your life,
Though nothing I bleed for is more tormenting.
I'm losing my mind and you just stand there and stare as my world divides.
-----------

Her stalker has her so terrified that she ends up having nightmares of him reaching her; touching her, raping her.
At this point in the song though, with the way its written its not exactly clear whether or not she is asleep or what, but most like she is.

I'm going with the majority here on the fact that this isn't nearly as much about abuse as it is plain old stalking. The verses are from her perspective and the chorus is from the stalker's, and he is creeping her out like no other. There are tons of lines that suggest all this, from "Don't look back / Undress in the dark and hide from you" to "You just stand there and stare as my world divides". I think Amy Lee did a great job of putting herself in someone else's shoes for once, especially since she doesn't usually do that, and taking on the role of your own stalker is something very difficult to do when all you can think about is how mentally sick they are.

It's about, as Evanescencefreak said, seeing through the eyes of a stalker.
Pretty freaky...

When I first heard it I thought it was about a girl she loved because I had heard Amy was Bi so I thought it would make sense.Especially in the part where she says "all your hands on me I can't scream".Cause I find it pretty conceited of her to make a song calling herself a "snow white queen" at least she could have given herself a less conceited name, yes we know you are freaking white but dam lol.But I still love the song :)

The song kinda reminds me of an Incubus, especially here:

"Wake up in a dream.
Frozen fear.
All your hands on me.
I can't scream"

I'm guessing it is about stalkers, but from my incubus-point-of-view, people who have been supposedly "attacked" by an incubus/succubus find that they are "frozen" in one place, their muscles lock up, and it's painful to move around. Some also say that they can't cry out, feeling a pressure on their chest; and since both the Incubus (male) and Succubus (female) are sex demons, one can infer what's happening in such a song as this. ;)

I think this is about an abusive relationship, she loves him, yet she is haunted by him. Especially when she sings,"don't scream anymore my love, all I want is you" she could be telling her loved one that she didn't mean to anger him, that he should stop screaming, all she wants is him, nothing or no one else.

Personally, I think this is almost a schizophrenic song. Amy, or a girl, has a different side to her - an evil one. The wicked side wants to seduce the nice one until finally it succeeds in destroying it, leaving no love or kindness left. The nice side trusted the wicked side, but its slowly betraying it and trying to destroy it. But, the evil side says the kind one BELONGS to her, and there's nothing she can do.

Knowing Evanescence's stream of extremely depressing classic rock lyrics, I think she referring to a sexual abuse of some sort..by a boyfriend..(hopefully)..

yeah all the words are there... undress, twisted, doors locked, hiding..

The great thing seems to be is she escaped from this freak..in the start it's something about hiding from him?? She is thrown to her past about the twisted ideas he had for her!

Right.
I've always thought this song is about stalking or rape and I couldn't work out which. I looked up stoplight just in case I didn't know wtf I was talking about.
Well stoplight could be the light on a car when it stops, so maybe her stalker(s) has stopped outside her house. So she's locking the door and not looking back because she's scared. Also, my friend just said that her mum locks the car door at traffic lights... :S

She's getting changed, undressing in the dark, and not letting them see her, hiding from them. all of them. They'll never know the way that what they've said has freaked her out and made her paranoid. She can't believe they'd try and get her to do the things they want her to do, which is whatever the stalker's demands are, though that's where my idea of rape came in :S
the emphasis on the you DON'T know me seems to be contradicting them. They believe they know her, but they're wrong.

They think she belongs to them. They've got her cornered, so just come out and get it over (again, I thought that might be rape)
etc etc

The next bit might be a dream. They're haunting her in her dreams, she's terrified, they've all got her. She can't sleep, because then she'll experience these nightmares.
