I think it's about youth as a whole and how they are placed and viewed in this world. Part of being youthful is falling in love like every other day, so "last year's wishes are this year's apologies." Also I think the song's about a guy wanting to be with a girl...like every other fob song now that I think of it. The new face of failure is referring to kids, basically and how kids need to make it through with our "bulletproof loneliness" and by constantly reminding ourselves that "2 out of 3 ain't bad."

This song is obviously about the past lyrics from other songs. You know, like "I hope you choke and crash your car", "stop burning bridges and drive off of them" etc... hence, Last years wishes (referring to past lyrics) Are this years apologies (saying he's sorry) I only keep myself this sick in the head Cause I know how the words get you (hes saying, I only write this stuff cause I know that my words hurt you)

"The best way to make it through with hearts and wrists intact is to realize two out of three ain't bad." Two wrists, one heart. He's had his heart broken, but he isn't killing himself over it.

It's the only thing that sounds right to me

Fall out boy made the lyrics so you would think one thing that sounds totally right and so obvious, but it really means something else. when you first see it, you think a guy falling in love, honeymoon, etc.. . "We're the new face of failure, prettier and younger but not better off. bulletproof loneliness, at best, at best" this generation is so worked up on all the drama that they don't realize what is important in life like the people in Uganda and Darfur. "The best way to make it through, with hearts and wrists intact. Is it to realize two out of three ain't bad, ain't bad." Realize that if something went wrong in your life, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Because people out there have it worse, think of the world.

Pete said in an interview that this song is about "falling out of love with someone and in love with someone else", so while a part of the song is about him "burning his bridges" and getting over Jeanae, you also have him wanting to start something new (with Ashlee). Also definitely about apologizing for past lyrics. -hanna.

This song is about getting out of one relationship and starting anew. We're the new face of failure prettier and younger but not any better off... I think that he is saying, as deep as he is, realtionships fail, (not all but a lot) and hes starting a new relationship with someone (new face) but realistically, it might fail...He's not better off with this one than the last one, just because it's new...I think it also pertains to the world as a whole... Bullet proof loneliness at best, at best (even if the relationship fails, for the time being, we are protected from feeling lonely) Collect the bad habbits that you couldnt bare to keep out of the woods (this could be from him to his new beau, saying he loves everything about her regaurdless of her bad habits that she couldnt keep from him) (He knew them all) but i love but i love, a tree i used to lay beneath... his teeth stained red, from a sour bottle baby girl a girl who he knows is maybe not his type, maybe not a good person, maybe other people dont like her but he still sees the world in her eyes with eyes the size of baby worlds...

"The best way to make it through with hearts and wrists intact is to realize two out of three ain't bad." He's referring to the fact that even though the relationship has ended it's nothing to kill yourself over. Basically, had he been perfect in the relationship, it would not have ended, however, he was nearly perfect and even though it's going to end, he did his best and that's not so bad.

"The best way to make it through with hearts and wrists intact is to realize two out of three ain't bad." Two wrists, one heart. He's had his heart broken, but he isn't killing himself over it. wow. that really makes sense. thank you, that really explains it. i've never thought about it that way.

I don't agree with that interpretation. He says "two out of three ain't bad" The three things he's talking about is ME and YOU and SETTING IN A HONEYMOON. He's missing the girl in the equation, but the only way to get through it with his "heart" and "wrists" in tact is to realize there'll be someone else. He's got 2 of the 3 things he needs.
