This song is about finding a girl in a club, getting drunk off your ass and going back to the hotel with her, then waking up in the morning and realising exactly what you've done.

Adding to the second post, not only is it about finding random girls at bars and sleeping with them, but it's also about doing it to get revenge upon the girl/guy back home, and doing it multiple times. Also, there's a certain fear that this sort of thing is going to leak out "Loose lips sink ships."

This song's about how his conscience never did him any good - "to the love/I left my conscience pressed/between the pages of the Bible in the drawer/what did it ever do for me? I say" and how they try to run away from people trying to judge them - "to drinks at the club, to the bar, to the keys in your car/to hotel stairs*stares/to the emergency exit door" and about how he wants to be with this girl but his attempts are getting him nowhere. and if he told her how he really felt, it'd all fall apart. "loose lips sink ships." Anyway, that's my interpretation, IM me or email me if you have any comments on my ideas for this song, at KTRocks05@yahoo.com. Thanks!

"to the love/I left my conscience pressed/between the pages of the Bible in the drawer/what did it ever do for me? I say" --that part has to definitely be about hooking up with someone at a hotel. There is always a bible in the drawer at a hotel "to drinks at the club, to the bar, to the keys in your car/to hotel stairs*/to the emergency exit door" --all the things the night could lead to "loose lips sink ships." --gossip sucks.. getting caught. loose lips. Talking a lot.. Sink ships-- relationships back home.. cheating.

The phrase "loose lips sink ships" was originally propoganda from WW2, I believe (not sure if that's the right way though) which could possibly hint that love is nothing but propoganda. The idea that love is used to trick girls into sex.

"I swear I say" means they really shouldn't be doing something.... "love never wanted me" means that his relationships never go right, "I hoped you choked and crashed your car' is about his concience racking him, so he leaves his concience pressed in the bible and thinks up an excuse so he can forget about it all. "loose lips sink ships" was used during WWII because is soldiers sent letters home, a lot of it would be censored so enemies couldn't find where they are.

I think, it is about him TRYING to find REAL love in a business where all he can get is groupies and real love is more than hard to find. So he "combs the crowd and picks her out" and then he takes her to the bar, then to a hotel room, and eventually she leaves out of the emergency exit door. I'm figuring he sleeps with her, and I guess falls for her. but she turns out to be just like all the other groupies, and only slept with him because he was in FALLOUTBOY. "through the keyhole I watched you dress" - she slept with someone else "loose lips sink ships" - he found out somehow. "I left my conscience pressed, between the pages of the bible in the drawer, "what did it ever do for me" I say." ----- his conscience never does anything for him, the bible in the drawer is evidently a reference to a hotel room....i guess he regrets sleeping with her -- or just regrets falling for her because he should have known that she was not the kind he was looking for...

It is about how the main character has an afair with a girl. At first, they meet at a club, and have a couple of drinks. Shortly after, they leave to have a couple of drinks at a bar. Apparently drunk, the two intertwine and make love. Now, the part that people don't catch in this song is "to the love I left my conscience presssed between the pages of the bible in the drawer. What did it ever do for me, I say?" This implies that the girl HAS A BOYFRIEND. He is saying that he knows that he shouldn't be doing this, and that he is arguing with his conscience, and then questions himself on what this "bible" ever really did for him. The part, "Through the keyhole I watch you dress" states that he is now not seeing her, because it was a one night fling. He now is so attached, that he stalks her until she likes him. The line "Loose lips sink ships" merely means that she made great love with him, and it was a great way to show passion with him.

Basically, this is what I personally think the song is about: The character in the song is on tour and meets a girl. They go to a nearest hotel and the girl says she loves him and makes a promise to be with him. They make love then the girl breaks her promise and leaves. Soon enough the character hates the girl and thinks "love never wanted him". "Loose lips sink ships"-- Hes afraid the girl will open her mouth and brag about being with him that one night. Basically the song is about some stupid big mouthed groupie. :] Okay yeah.. haha. <3

I bet you any money it has anything to do with nothing, or has nothing to do with anyone else has written about. Fall Out Boy don't just write it out simply, and if any of these meanings where to make sense you would have to ignore several lines, which would make no sense.

Ok both songs are on the album xo and I slept with someone in fall out boy etc... So the whole they switched out song name thing that's bull and basically it is about a some groupie slut sleeping around after using him and when he finds out he wishes the worse for her because he broke his heart 'i hoped you choked and crashed your car" hey "tear catcher", that's all that you are and ever were from the start i swear, I say i swear, I say' and the loose lips sink ships thing basically means she was sleeping around broke his heart (sunk his ship)

Its a story! Its about how he thinks love is sex, and he's making the mistake of interpreting that. Then when a girl stands him up, he's sad because he thought it was something real. And he says that when he's depressed, he never feels love, and that it never wanted him, but he took it anyways, meaning he tried to make a relationship work anyways. Geeze

I think I'm so way off it's unnatural but here's my idea, yeah and about this song and "I slept with someone from fall out boy etc. Yeah I think the titles were switched to mess with our heads. Aanyway, the narrator is looking for a random groupie girl to sleep with (I comb the crowd (the crowd at a gig) and pick you out)and the rest of verse 1 is bascally just what happens after he meets the girl (get drunk and go to a hotel room ("to the "love"" means to the sex i.E. Either a polite way of saying sex or saying that the girl he slept with confused sex with love) and the "emergency exit door" is the narrator making a quick escape after they've had sex. ( I left my conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer) that's just referring to the fact that hotel rooms (especially the cheap motels lol) have bibles in the top drawer of the chest-of-drawers in the hotel rooms and "I left my conscience" in relation to the next part of the chorus is him saying he's gotten rid of his conscience and left it in the hotel where he slept with the girl because it's useless and it's never been any good to him (what did it ever do for me" I say (I say, I say, I say) it never calls me when I'm down) this makes me think the narrator has a girlfriend and in sleeping with the girl is thus going against his conscience. That or the girl is under age. "love never wanted me but I took it anyway" basically means he's done with love because it's always gone wrong when he's taken it so he's content with sex lol. Love never wanted him as in he was never meant to have love but he took it anyway and look what happened. "I hoped you choked and crashed your car" is the girl he slept with being pissed off at him but he's saying she's a "tear catcher" in the next line which means she was only rebound sex and that's all she ever was (ever were from the start) then the last bit is basically saying that the girl he slept with could do a "kiss and tell" and tell the papers that she slept with the narrator but "loose lips sink ships" if she tells there will be hell. Serious hell. Yup that's my explanation! ^^ even if it sucks at least give a raiting lol or at least tell me you get where I'm coming from ^^

the meaning I got out of this song wasnt exactly like him falling in love witha girl unintentionally and then finding out the girl only liked em because he was in FOB. I got that he did like a girl like in most songs who broke his heart by probably cheating on him " watched you dress, kiss and tell" and now he is just like screw it and just sleeps with any girl he finds( the whole part about combing the crowd and the bar and the hotel) and I think he is saying he knows its wrong but he doesn't feel remorse because being good never helped him any"to the love I left my conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer what did it ever do for me I say, it never calls me when I'm down love ner wanted me, but I took it anyway" but even though he thinks he doesn't care anymore he does and he is hurt and angry at the girl who broke his heart" I hoped you choke and crashed your car..." I'm not sure but I think the whole part about"put your ear to the speaker and choose love or sympathy..." is saying you either love him or you sympathize with him and that's why you sleep with him but it can't be both.well that's what I think.

I believe this song is about a person (not necessary in Fallout Boy, but in general terms), cheating on his girlfriend in look for love. The first line "comb you out of the crowd"..doesn't necessary mean from an audience or a literal crowd, but a selection of females that the guy is attracted to. He hooks up with the girl and now, here's the screwy part, doesn't feel guilty about it. The line "..conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer" imples that the bible is useless (notice how it's in the drawer), just like his conscience. The song makes it seem like his girlfriend back at home cheated on him first. The line "love never wanted me", meaning he has been cheated several times in the past or that the girlfriend is his love and she is treating him badly. Fal out boy and their ambiguos lyrics. Gotta love it!

Face it, this songs about one night stands and those nights where you just let loose and drink and wake up the next day confused and feeling like shit.

I always thought that "loose lips sink ships" meant that going around kissing and getting with people without it really meaning anything ("loose lips") got you into trouble ("sinks ships")... yes no??? I don't know, but either I think it fits better into the song that way anyway... Maybe they used the expression from WWII and used it in the way above, to fit into the song as a metaphor.

Pete said at a fall out boy concert that it was about one night, one town and one girl. He's obviously going to be right=]

This song - this may have already been said - is about (in my opinion) a guy who constantly finds himself in bad relationships in which the girl does not really love him back, but more pitties him - "put your ear to the speaker, choose love or sympathy, but never both, love never wanted me, but I took it anyway" - and after they where together, he see her cheating on him - "...through he key hole, I watched you dress, kiss, and tell, loose lips sinks ships..." - I really like that line, which I kinda think is saying that when you go around cheating on people, nobody ends up happy. In a way, I think that he has almost given up on finding real love and thinking things through - "To the love, I left my conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer, what did it ever do for me I say..." As well, he goes out and finds this girl even after knowing what she is and what she will do - he is so tired of being down over losing out that he doesn't care anymore.

I think this songs about succumbing to sexual feelings and foregoing love (I left my conscience pressed through the keyhole I watched you dress) 1 2 Next Page >
