Kiss with a Fist Lyrics

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to...

I don't think the song is about domestic violence. The physical violence described is a metaphor the destructive nature that their relationship has.
It shows this when it says "My black eye casts no shadow Your red eye sees no blame Your slap don't stick Your kicks don't hit So we remain the same."
Her black eye has no shadow because it never existed it is merely a metaphor for their arguments. They both love antagonising one another, pushing one anothers buttons and they love how their "fighting" pushes them to extremes and it is ultimately the rush of it that keeps them together.

I think it is meant to be like a backwards love song.

I think that this song is about her and an abusive boyfriend and they get into fights that always ends badly, but she would much rather get "kissed with a fist" than loose the person that she loves.
