This is a praise and worship song. They are speaking of the feeling of being close to God when she is in a state of praise with outstretched hands. This is a common practice of worship in many Christian denominations such as the pentacostal church.

It’s obvious that this song is about God. Can’t see it about anything else but.

It's about how they feel when they praise god, how they can feel the power of him flowing through them...Its about finally being able to break down that last wall and trust what they can't see, "you said you would never leave me, I believe you, I believe" about finally being bale to trust god with what they held closed and safe for so long.
But then again, as corey taylor says, lyrics can be about anything, depending on your own opinion.

Close your mouth keep your lips shut and pretend your talking...isnt your tounge kind of "dancing" she's prolly praying when she says that. She's praying to and for God...hence "my tounge dances behind my lips for you"

I'm pretty sure that it saying "my tongue dances behind my lips for you" because she's singing to God...i mean, your tongue moves wen you sing...like its dancing...and so she probably means that she's worshiping and singing...or even praying too...I'm sure its not about lust...

That would make sense too..but either way they ARE a christian band that's there "religion" and that's there music genre there @ Acquire the fire, lifelight, plus a lot of other christian events and they proclaim there love for God in there songs...I'm pretty sure its also their genre.

To the person who said this:
I think the "it's about god" interpretation is pretty strong, but I have one question: what's with the line "my tongue dances behind my lips for you"? How do you pray by dancing your tongue behind your lips? To me this line sounds sexual, like she's licking her lips in lust for someone, but secretly. Any theories?
"my tongue dances behind my lips for you"
She's singing in praise to him. It may sound sexual but its not.

The part with "My tongue dances behind my lips for you" might be relation to Pentecostal worship where when one receives the Holy Spirit, the sign that shows that they receive the Holy Ghost (Ghost and Spirit mean the same thing) is they begin to speak in another language that they've never learned. Check out the book of Acts for anymore info on the Holy Spirit.

"It's a song about meeting God. I remember looking at a bunch of people's Myspace when I first saw Myspace and the "Who I'd Like To Meet" the number one thing people picked was God. I think about that.. I don't know how many times I've experienced something where I felt like God showed up and saved me or loved me for no reason sometimes. That's why I sing this song, I sing it to God. It's really intimate as well, you can think about it as a relationship between two people in love, too. I never think about it that way.. but what's so cool about that is I think there's parallels everywhere.. In everything in life. I think that that parallel is something that God wants to communicate to us, that he gives us relationships like that, an intimacy like that." - Lacey(on LA Lloyd's ROCK 30)

I know this song is about God and the feeling he gives when you just believe. Ive been saved for about a year and in that year I learned so much and this song really ministered to me. I even sang it at church. Its a very heart warming song for all believers young and old. no matter what you go through God will NEVER leave you! "You said you would never leave me I believe you I believe"

- I actually got the impression it was more of her experience finding God and submitting herself to God, after she was lost and tried to commit suicide.

The ones who said you don't like songs about god then why are you listening to Flyleaf.
This song is about God cause I mean I am Christian and I can tell that it is just by watching her perform she lifts her hands up all the time that's what people do when they are praising/worshiping God in song.
Gods love feels like its all around you once you learn to recognize it some of you may not know the feeling I hope you will some day but, its pretty powerful you feel it 24/7 and it feels thick and heavy and it just makes it obvious this song is about that love.

It's not just about god. It's an eye opening experience about how god saved her from an addiction. before this she was a amethisit be the neofite ghost that appeared as to be god made her change forever.

The "you said you would never leave me I believe you, I believe" is not about a guy, it's about God, because God will never leave you no matter what.
And as far as the genre goes they are Alternative Metal
Alternative Rock Christian Rock, Post Grunge
but they are a Christian Band. All of there songs are related to God in someway or another, if you can't find it then you're not looking hard enough.

I think that this song is not only about how much she is in love and thankful for God, but if you think about it...with all the stuff she's been through (and in my opinion) she could be talking about her reborn self. The part of her that came out of the tragedy or 'near death' experience whether it be physically, emotionally, or mentally. You never know, my thinking is just that she's grateful to be reborn within herself. To lead the life SHE feels like she's meant to lead through God and whatever other actions she sees fit.

Definitely about God. As for the tongue dancing behind your lips, that would be when the act of speaking in tongues when the holy spirit descends upon you and speaks through you. I love this band so much, it makes me realize how much I love god and how he'll always be there for me, loving me in his caring arms

I only just heard this song this morning on a music video. I thought it sounded really cool, but now with all the talk about them being a christian band, I'm not sure I like them anymore. I don't think it's about god, and I hope it isn't...that would be a disappointment if it is. I think its a bout a guy she really loves who might have saved or changed her life.

Lacey had a rough life as a kid.
she dealt with some drug problems. This song is about her over coming them and feeling God around her.
she feels so alive now that she has found God. It's about him bringing her through her problems and helping her out of that. It is a worship song about God being all around her. She's holding on to what she's feeling. which is God.
make sense?

It's about god and how she's healing by him. Since this is a Christian rock band, Half of the songs sung are about god, but it makes very good music. Anyway, She feels him all around her and she is believing in him.
