Fully Alive is about a girl who has suffered so much but is still thankful for being alive and thankful for any good things(small or big) that happen. To me whoever this girl is, is the strongest girl in the world, to be able to get through so much suffering and still find time to be happy. I love this song and I really relate to it. Listening to it made me want to be strong too and get to through my suffering and my depression. Hopefully this song could help others who suffer through life and show them how to be strong.

This song I think, is about how a girl, has suffered (whatever the cause may be) but she's looking for something good in her life, even if it's the smallest thing, she's happy because it's better than the suffering she's been through.
She's glad for one day of comfort
Even though it's ONE day, she's happy because, again, it's better than wehat she's been going through
So pretty much it's about a suffering girl, looking at the "bright side" and being happy that she's not worse off. She's very optimistic.

This song is about a girl who has suffered but is still strong through it all. She realizes that there is more to life then dwelling on the past. She is even more beautifull and amazing after it all because of what she has went through.

This song is about trust company vocalist kevin palmer's wife, layla. Flyleaf went on tour with trust company a while back at a time when layla was really sick, and those times when she could get out of bed she was always smiling, she always seemed happy about the little things most people take for granted every day. Lacey and pat said they really inspired her.

This song blew me away.
I First saw this amazing music video on FUSE TV, but had a little trouble listening to the words...
So, when I researched online about it, I became very emotional. This song... It means so much to me and being strong.
I really like this part in the song:
"all my complaints shrink to nothing
i'm ashamed of all my somethings
she's glad for one day of comfort
only because she has suffered"
It inspires me more than anything to be strong and stop living life so afraid.
I hope nothing but success to this band for creating such powerful music.

im pretty sure this song might be saying that "Layla" has suffered and is ready to end her complaints , pain and stop feeling ashamed and basically start over and love life and smile instead nad make the best of it
"All my complaints shrink to nothing
I'm ashamed of all my somethings
She's glad for one day of comfort
Only because she has suffered"
"Fully alive
More than most
Ready to smile and love life
Fully alive and she knows
How to believe in futures"
thats what I think it's about anyway but I'm not sure

I also read somewhere that Layla refers to the wife of a member of Trust Company...and that her strength and radiance inspired Flyleaf to write this song. This band rocks because they're hard rock with a positive message. And usually I don't like to mix religion and music, but they do it subtly and without throwing it in your face.

"It's about the singer for Trust Company, Kevin (Palmer), his wife Layla. She's an awesome person, and you would never guess in a million years that she has the struggle that she has. Kinda changed my perspective about the way that I complain about things, the way that I wake up sad for no reason, and then she wakes up just glad to wake up." -Lacey

This song is about how a girl has gone through the pressures of life but still remained positive and strong. In the acoustic version Lacey changed the very last verse of the song saying "Fully alive and she knows how to believe in Jesus (instead of "futures"). After hearing the acoustic version it really spoke to me, this woman overcame her trials and hardships through the strength that God gave her.

I Think This Song Is So True & Really Inspiring. I Think Its About A Girl Who Has Had A Hard Life/Been Put Down So Many Times But She Still Loves Life And Apprecites Every Little Thing She Gets. She Never Gave In And Shes Still 100% "Fully Alive".She Can Still Smile. She Has Grown From Experience And Mistakes And Is A Stronger Person Because Of Everything Shes Been Through.
It Is An Amazing Song That Is So Inspiring Showing Anyone That Has Been Through Hard Times To Be Strong And Keep Pushing Through. It Shows U Can Do It No Matter What The Circumstance. It Inspired Me A Lot.

This song is basically about a young girl named 'Layla' who has been through suffering. But she is grateful for living through them. The song basically means to be grateful for the things and privileges you have in life. Even through all of Layla's pain she realizes she isn't in the worst condition possible. She is still alive.

This song is about a girl who is comparing her life to someone less fortunate "telling Layla's story spoken" this suggests that it is another girl telling the story of another girl named Layla "bout how all her bones were broken, hammers fall on all the pieces" this indicates that the girl she is telling about is less fortunate it's saying her bones were broken on a metaphorical scale "all my complaints shrink to nothing, I'm ashamed of all my somethings, fully alive more than most ready to smile and love life fully alive and she knows how to believe in futures" this describes how the girl telling the story feels when she sees all of the things this girl named Layla has gone through, and that she's ashamed of all the thing she complained about in her life ("somethings"), because this girl Layla has been through a lot worse and is still able to smile, live and love life, and belive in and hope for a better tomorrow

I think this song is about a girl. a girl who has suffered a great deal in her time in this world. Still she fails to believe that there is no good in this world. She believes in good, and God for that matter. More than someone who has never suffered. She believes in herself, others around her, and GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was at real fest she said she called it fully alive because she met some people who lost a lot but they were filled with life and joy.

im pretty sure that this girl they're singing about had some kind of life threatening condition and was in the hospital. she then started to appreciate life for the little things and was able to smile through all of her suffering.

Lacey has had many problems in the past. One of them being drugs. This song is about how this girl layla's life is so terrible but she found God now she is fully alive. Finding joy in Christ means being alive for Him no matter the circumstances. So lacey is saying that this girl is fully alive. Fully living for God not based on all the bad things that has happened to her. With God she can move on.

my interpretation of this song id simple; it is about a girl who has suffered her whole life and doesn't like to think about the bad things happenning so she waits for something that makes her smile. "all my complaints shrink to nothing" lacey is trying to say that compared to layla's life her complaints are like a dream come true for layla. infact this song reminds me alotttttt of me. butt what has been done is done and you know were all here for a reason and if you have made it through alot of bad stuf then you are stronger than you think. alot of people take life for granted. yeh i have severe depression but i'm glad i have it. i'm not dead. i'm fighting death it wants me.

Idk, but about the lyrics "about how all her bones were broken" might not mean that "layla"'s bones are really physically broken.
Before someone can learn to be humble and joyful no matter the circumstance, they need God's help to first crush their pride, though it may hurt, but the 'layla' girl who Lacey shared could be so joyful from the inside out might have gone through something like this......:)
