At Least I'm Not as Sad (As I Used to Be) Lyrics
new metal friends and
what became of them
Turns out I saw them
a couple of days ago
They were laughin' and drinkin'
and smokin' and singin'
Come on can you count
all the notches in your belt?

I believe that this song is about the author, Nate's life. When he left his friends and family to go and sing. Thus, "but you was taken over by rock and roll. While we were...". The song also seems to be about a reunion between him and his friends.
