A few years ago in Kerrang magazine matt davies explains that he wrote this song because when a close friend dies he sees every one grieving but he himself didn't feel he was, so he wrote this song as a tribute.

he said *a heavy song, but not in the way metal is typically considered to be "heavy" . This is about the death of close friends; I saw my friends and family all grieving but I didn't know how to react. I felt odd because I wasn't crying, I sat there and took it all in. I wanted to pay tribute to the memory of those people, who I missed so much, and to express that*
