This song begins my telling about a breakup from the point of view of both people involved. I think the general message is that as painful as it may be, breaking up is a part of life that we must all accept at some point. The chorus is meant to be enlightening by saying that it's okay, and that there are greater things in life, and some lines in the song ["Get out there and find someone" and "You don't want to ruin the chance you've got to find a new one"] are saying the same thing as the phrase "There are other fish in the sea."
