It's a song for benji and joel's dad about when he left them. It tells joel's emotions for why his dad left him. The song is pretty self explanatory

This song helped me and my sister a lot. Our dad had an affair on our mother and they then got a divorce. Our mom was horribly depressed for a long time and my sister and I couldn't bring ourselves to forgive him.
