This song is about the harshness of crystal meth addiction and how it can quickly consume your life and do a lot of physical damage in a short amount of time (hence the picking scabs off the face part)

This is a song about Methamphetamines (Speed) that BJ Armstrong used to abuse up to and possibly including the recording of the Insomniac EP.

Verse 1 -

An so on...Brain Stew is also about Meth. Brain Stew more refers to the fact that it is extremely difficult to sleep when on Meth. So much so that one might begin to hallucinate due to lack of sleep. The song of Brain Stew is basically the "come down" of Meth, with Jaded being the "re-up". In Jaded, he apparently believes that sobriety is too difficult to obtain and that he is doomed to exist as a Meth addict.
