She is about a girl who has done all of what she was told in her life and can't take it any more. I think it's about one of Billie Joe's girlfriends who he dated who had parents like that. Its one of my favorite things and helped me get through high school

She is about someone who feels like she is drowning from the world she lives in. So many people are telling her what to do and what to think that she needs someone she can tell it all too and Billie Joe is offering that support. I heard this song was written for his wife.

She is about having a life where people tell her lies, and she believes them because she doesn't know what to believe in. "She, shes figured out, all her doubts were someone elses point of view" Also, her life is mapped out and she doesn't have a choice, and an opininated voice. "Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you" ...And she feels that she has no point in life. "Are you feeling like a social tool without a use"
