   This song is really sweet and should be more popular because I think a lot of people would be able to relate to it and it could probably provide much comfort to people going through heartbreak. Anyway, my interpretation of the song is that the narrator has a best friend who is a girl. This girl has a boyfriend, but the narrator is in love with her anyway. The song was not written for the girl, or her boyfriend. It was written for the narrator, who is talking to himself. The narrator feels betrayed by the girl because she doesn't love him back after all he does for her. And she still continues to lead him on. Hence the line "when she says she wants someone to love, I hope you know that she doesnt mean you." The narrator know that the boyfriend is not a good fit for her, and that he, himself would be better. He would treat her like royalty. And that is just the way I see it.

   A guy and a girl love eachother but a duel is between him and this other guy she feels for too. Hes trying to tell her the other guy may be all that but hes no where as special as he is, cuz he's the one for her. Its a triangle of love thingy.    I like to think it is about a man who has been in love with his best female friend for as long as he can remember. He is being self-deprecating to himself saying that 'when she says she wants somebody else, I hope you know that she doesn't mean you' so he knows she doesn't want him while when he says 'when she breaks down and makes a sound you'll never hear her the way I do' gives the idea that he's telling a boyfriend of hers that he'll never hear her cry the way this friend does as he's been there a lot of times before.

   I think its about a guy liking a girl but not saying anything to her because she is a close friend and they tell each other everything and he wants to be with her but she is already with someone who he thinks isnt good enough for her. Thats my take

   My take is ... This song is between three people. The main couple, a man and a woman. The woman cheated on the main man and this song is more or less the narrator talking to the man with whom his significant other cheated. They are teetering on the line of breakup, and she is exploring other options. But the man she is still with is talking to a man she has been with essentially telling him no matter what happens between them he will still love her and this new man isn't up to her standards "shes doesn't mean you". In the end I feel the girl is moving on and this is simply his last plea to convince her to stay.

   Ok now the girl left him so why he wants her back and the part when he said (( And when she said she wants somebody else I hope you know that's she doesn't mean you )) somebody = that's him the guy that the girl left him right ...
   and same part these words when he said it is it to the girl face or her new BF
