At first listen you probably think this song means that she has lost a friend or boyfriend, and she wants him/her back. But when you pay more attention to the lyrics you can tell that she has ended the relationship and is relieved("since you been gone, I can breathe for the first time, I'm so movin' on... yeah, yeah"). She obviously didn't want to admit she wanted to move on earlier but finally couldn't stand it anymore so ended the relationship. I am SO tired of songs that send the message,"ahh... I'm so dedicated to you... come back! I mean even though you treated me like crap". Which is why I like this song, because it shows that you should end a relationship you don't like, and you won't regret.

Ok here it is, phrase by phrase:

Are you there?/are you watching me?
That would be saying 'you' are gone and 'I' hope you see this.

As I lie here on this floor
That would be "I'm depressed and I can't take it anymore, ever since you left"

They say you feel what I do/They say you're here every moment
That would be "They say your spirit still is with me". That means the the 'you' is dead or in a vegatable state

But you might be the only one who sees me/the only one to save me
That means you were the only good thing in my life until you died but you might still help me get outta this stinkin' depression.

Why can't you just take me/I don't have much to go/before I fade completely
That means I just wanna DIE because I don't have too much to lose anyways.So take me up to heaven so I can be with you.

Can you feel how cold I am/Are you lonely up there by yourself?
That means you've experienced the same as I do.

so basically this is when she is at this incredibly low point in her life because she has lost a loved one.She doesn't want to go the same path as the person because that's what caused him/her to die. But she is.
