I think this song is about head leaving. Jd uses the metaphore of being pussy whipped to descrive head's new-found love of religion ('she' in the song equals god). With the 'flood', 'fire' and 'dog', jd is referring to the way he thinks head naturally feels. When he calls head a liar, he is telling him to go back to the 'natural' way he was before.

Anyone agree?

I think he's right I think the songs about how a lot of guys when they get into a relationship they just let the woman take control and lose touch with the way they really are.

'My brother, you love her
But don't give up your instincts'
Head, you may feel in touch with religion (God), but don't let it change who you are.

'Hang onto you know what
They'll be gone fast as you blink'
You've been with us for so long. We are your friends that have stuck with you through your worst times. As soon as you have a problem, they (i.e. The church) will cast you aside.

'They're trained to seduce you
Suck you dry quick as they can'
They (clergy) are taught to make you think you need them. They are just trying to get your money as quick as possible.

'They tried to reduce you
Now you're barely a man'
Look at yourself, Head. You are a pawn to them now. They tricked you. Lied to you.

'Oh my God
How can you deny the flood
That's flowing through you'
You have regrets of leaving and you know you shouldn't. Don't ignore it.

'Hey you
You're saying that she's all that you desire
Liar'
You're saying religion is all you need. That's not true. You need your friends.

'Hey you
You think you can throw water on this fire
Liar'
You want to leave the band without making enemies, but you know that you are not just deserting the band. You're deserting us.

'It's not wrong to let go
And let the woman ride you
For fuck sake, don't lose touch
With the dog that's inside you'
Religion is not necessarily a bad thing, but don't forget who you are. It doesn't need to change your entire life.

'She wanted what you had
You bet she smelt the spore
Don't give up, fuck her up
One more time, slam that door'
They're manipulating you! Fight it, man! Prove you are the man we all know you are! Come back.

That's what I think this song means. It is meant to sound like it's about a woman just because we've all seen someone who just let a woman take over their lives, but in Head's case that woman was actually religion. This song is about Head leaving the band. They are not saying for him to leave religion, but they are saying that he shouldn't have to leave the band just for it.

My interpretation is that it's about women always wanting a man's money and property of value and the man being in it for sex, but also with other women

"Your Sayin that she's all that you desire, Liar!" I really hate when people say this song is about Head. Leave the guy alone.

I always thought it was about a Werewolf falling in love with a vampire myself.

Then again I'm odd.

It's about his brother getting married. They got a divorce 3 years later. "Hold on" is about Head.

I thought it was about Head's ex-wife, Rebekah, until I looked up when the song was released. Maybe it's one of the other guys, they all had pretty shitty relationships
