I think this song is talking about an ex-girlfriend. I think this girl has left him for another man but he still loves the girl.

Now I think this woman is with the man the she left jon for but she still comes around to have sex but jon still lives her. Therefore she is cheating on the other man.

I think he's sayin that the girl says its ok lets have sex and Jon says no I love you I want more then sex and she's like its ok but he still feels the pain, but pain can also be love.

Why are you taken he says is where I get the idea that she is an ex or a woman he loves that he can't have and that's why he feels helpess. Then says why is it you.

I COULD BE WRONG :)... but I went throw a break up with a lover and pretty much everything he wrote is my experience that I am going through so it helps, I can relate to the lyrics regardless if same meaning as I interpret.

i belive jonathan is talking about how its hard for him to be in a close relationship. according to the lyrics he wants to get close but its no possible since hes afreid to loose it, afreid to get too close and eventually get hurt.
