This song is about a guy who has always heard that you have to work hard to be successful. He then realizes, though, that he can't do it on his own. He's no Superman. It's also the theme song for Scrubs.

This is my first interpretation so just correct me if I'm wrong.

This song is about a man who assuming that everything would come easy to him but when he gets to the plate he sees his journey as what it really will be. A really hard long journey
The reason that the song was used for the Scrubs theme song (I'm assuming that everyone knows Scrubs) is that J.D works hard and long to get to the Hospital (Sacred Heart) but when he get there he finds that he was trying to save everyone but he can't save everyone, he can't help everyone and so he's saying that he's no Superman and he knows it. This song was chosen by Zach Braff who plays J.D and I know that the Scrubs related information is correct because I saw it on the Scrubs dvd and it was said by both Zach Braff and the director.

Basically I think this song is about the human condition. The lyrics repeated throughout the song 'I can't do this all on my own, no I'm no Superman' is talking about how you can't just coast through life easily on your own, you need friends and other types of relationships and people to lean on if you're going to get through. 'You've crossed the finish line, won the race but lost your mind, was it worth it after all?' strikes me as him saying that you can spend your whole life shutting everyone out with your eyes ONLY on the prize, and in the end you may be hugely successful but have no relationships, and you wonder whether it was worth it.

My interpretation of the song is that the man singing is talking about his faith in God. In the song, he sings "that deck of tarot cards, won't get you very far." Tarot cards are cards that have been used for hundreds of years involving fortune telling. And then the song goes on to say "I can't do this all on my own." and "Someday will be together." I believe he is referring to God here.
