I don't think that the song is really about drugs. It seems to me that the song is about a woman. The singer is doing everything he possibly can to try to please this woman, but none of it seems to be enough. This situation sends him into a state of mind that could be compared to being on drugs, hence "Dazed and Confused".

I think this song is about a man who was attracted to a women. He realizes though that the woman doesn't care for what the man does to support them. I doubt this song has anything to do with drugs.

They didn't steal it you idiot. They had a huge ownership battle over this and in the end Zeppelin won but on the album it says that the song was written by jack holmes...good try though I like your effort

I don't know for sure but I think it's about a cheating woman..."been dazed an confused for so long its not true"..meaning she's been sleeping around an the man not knowing it..."wanted a woman never bargained for u"..he was in love with this girl but what she is doing behind his back he's obviously mad about...."lots of people talk but few of them know that the soul of a woman was created below"....the woman might come off as a sweet an innocent girl but only few people know her true side,an created below meaning from hell.....the entire song actually makes sense with what I opinionated if you actually take the time a listen to ever individual lyric.. That's just what I was thinking about the whole song....a cheating woman

i think anybody could really take it to their own interpretation. its not just about a woman, but when artists write their songs and their own experiences down they hope that any listener or fan can relate or empathize. i took the line "been dazed and confused for so long its not true" as you could be blind-sighted by someone that was so close to you whether it was a friend, family member, or partner and you did everything for them that it didn't make a difference what they did you loved them, but then you realize that you've been confused and in a daze for all to long that they used you that it hits you.. like a brick.

That would still mean Jack Holmes was getting at least the writer's royalties, and that would have been quite a lot. This is one of the songs that Page brought with him from the Yardbirds, so it could not have been Zeppelin ripping somone off. Don't believe me? There's a video on You Tube of the Yardbirds doing the song, with Keith Relf on vocals, Page on guitar. This was probably shortly before the band broke up.
