To me it’s the good and bad of love and lack of love. The first paragraph is talking about his attraction to the one he loves. The second continues, talking about because of this love, the keepers of gloom for him are ran off not to be felt or even remembered. He feels the love spoken to him through her eyes. And "These things are clear to ALL, from time to time”, we all have or will have those small moments that seem to last an eternity where we understand it all, true love. The "Coldness of my winter" may mean those times with out love, with out the warmth of another, and in that time the most simple thought is "I never thought it would ever go". “I cursed the gloom” the bad times, might be during that lonely time with or with out her. BUT "I know that I love you so"! These are the seasons, good bad, warm cold, and like the wind they rise and fall, come and go. The torch we hold that gives us hope and light, and the rain that upon us all must fall, and be cold and hard and hurt and feelings of loneliness, loss and pain will happen, but rain does end. It’s a beautiful song to me about love, the most important part is that we will all feel the rise and fall. We can’t look at others and think we will never be so happy and warm, and will only have gloom and rain. Even while having the spring time, we might also have the rain, they seem to go hand in hand. But don’t stop and let the rain overcome. I hope it’s as beautiful to you as it is to me. No matter what it might mean to you. -hanz_moman
