This song is about confusion, about getting a mixed message from someone you want to believe is more than just a frined, but they aren't sure themselves, whether they want to be more than a friend. They lure you in and seduce you to liking them, then when they have you reall close, they "toss you like a stone" The things they say aren't true, just sop happen to be true. They are doing everything in their power to hurt you by encouraging your feelings then destroying them, repeating the process over and over again. It's kind of like "[I Hate] Everything About You" by Three Days Grace, except the singer actually has feelings for the one who loves to hate them. This is overral a love song that stresses the damage that can be done by being way too open with your feelings, and betrayal. Anyone who thinks differently would have to explain why they think I am wrong, but this song was most likely inspired by his break up in 2005, just as "Leave Out All The Rest" was probably a dedication to his children.

I think it is about a girl who he is with at the time who is cold and doesnt let him in, And tells him lies to keep him away in a sence, and hes saying she will be alone if she continues like that with everyone. How she leads him on then "toss me like a stone" and she wont open up to him "alone with all your secrets and regrets" and he doesnt want to leave it "i dont want to leave this in pieces" and shes always pushing him away but he can tell she doesnt want him to go "telling me to go but expecting me to stay"
