    I belive this song talk only about the worst kind of warfare which is nuclear."A thousand suns" was quote about the nuclear bomb, of Robert Oppenheimer which was featured previously in the album in the "The Radiance".About: "We're a broken people living under loaded gun" i think the mean is about all of us since we are all in a constant danger of nuclear war.The atomic bomb is the "gun" in this song and we are the people who are begging for mercy from god. we ("the people")in th song ask god if because all of what mankind has done and he is still doing ,Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns? for the sins of our....

    In conclusion, I think its talk only about us and our "sins" and the nuclear danger, when i first time heard a Linkin Park song (it was In The End) i thousght they only do songs that kids would like to hear even though they do not have some meaning but as more i hear from Minutes to Midnight and especially from A Thousand Suns, I see i was worng.These guys see the world in a diffrent way and I like that despite sometimes it doesnt have the same rhythm of Hybrid Theory or Meteora which is so love.

    This song is an obvious reference to nuclear holocost with the bombs themselves being the "loaded gun" we are living under. The phrase "When I close my eyes tonight to symphonies of blinding light" a reference to the bombs going off. The line "Like memories in cold decay Transmissions echoing away Far from the world of you and I
    Where oceans bleed into the sky" meaning the radio transmitions from this planet that would be all that was left of us afterword traveling through space for thousands of years and " God save us everyone,
    Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
    For the sins of our hand
    The sins of our tongue
    The sins of our father
    The sins of our young" seems to be a pondering if we deserve this fate or have brought it on ourselves and if it will come to be...or at least thats what I gather from it.

    The people can't do anything they brought it on themselves... It may be about pollution and global warming...

    It is about nuclear war and the threat of what we are doing to ourselves in the world.
    But it's also I way of saying that it's speeding up. The term "catalyst" is the name given to an object that speeds up a reaction in science. The catalyst in this song is us. We are speeding up the threat of nuclear war and other physical disasters by being blind to serge everything we are doing to this planet.

    -this means that judgement day is about to happen, and we cant stop it, we cant run away to it, we cant counter it...

    Well....think about it.

    To go back to the obvious, its talking about war. Libya. I know, I know, it was before that, but take it into consideration. Civil war in general. Broken straight down the middle, the pendulum of power swing back and forth, back and forth. Under loaded gun. Under the overlaying threat that neither side will win, and everything- everyone -goes boom. Doesn't this need God's blessing?

    Can you outrun, outfight, outmatch, or outdo reality? I sure can't. Can you beat an idea? Beat an outcome that you've already brought upon yourself? Knock yourself out.

    When all the textbooks are gone, all the teachers are drafted, where do you learn to outsmart am enemy? The past. Legends, wise sayings, parables, the like. Stuff your parents told you. Memories and transmissions long in stasis. Decaying in the bonds of eternity.

    Travel into the unknown, beyond the normal, or even the strange. Where oceans bleed.

    But nobody listened. God's blessing is long-gone. You need fate to intervene. You need a catalyst to turn it all around. You need a savior. Before everything burns. A thousand suns can't be extinguished by any force known to reality. The fire is the end. Bam. El fine. Gone. But who's to blame? You? Your ancestors? Your descendants? In reality, everyone. Making little compromises and cheating and back-stabbing. Take it further, you might just create a war. Not personally, obviously, but all as one. United in evil can only cause more evil. This song, despite being awesome, is a sign. A wake-up call. I ask you to listen.

    And think about how lucky you are not to be on the verge of a holocaust.

    It is quite simply about the nuclear war. "Will be burn inside the fires of a thousand suns" refers to a scientists interpretation of a nuclear bomb. That line means "will we die in a nuclear war." That is my main interpretation: Nuclear War.

    'Burning in the fires of a thousand suns' was inspired on the text that some scientist wrote explaining what a nuke is. He said that the flames of a nuke are hotter than the heat of a thousand suns. Lp thought that was such a strong line that they named their album after it and they used it in this song.

    The song is about the NWO, ILLUMINATI or more specifically the anti-christ. The anti-christ's army cant be outfought outdone.     I think it is talking about the Taliban ruling over the people of the Middle East region. The Taliban are too powerful for the people of that region to stop and overthrow.     First of all: To Interp:
    2012 IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. IT'S THE END OF THE MAYAN CALENDAR >:I.
    Second of all: I think this song is saying a nuke happens; and everything turns chaotic. By loaded gun it can either mean the govt or some sort of rebel group forcing their way. The burning of a thousand suns could mean that they think they don't deserve to, but go to, hell. They're thinking its not their fault because someone is forcing them. Oceans bleeding into the sky could mean that the water is going to somewhere it shouldn't--for example; the rogues.

    It's about nuclear war. the threat of it. The refrence to "living under loaded gun" is actually about the fear of a nuclear attack. Like another cold war. The quote "we will burn inside the fires of a thousand suns" isn't some conspiracy prophecy, but talking about the blast from a nuclear missile, wich is said to be hotter than a thousand suns. the whole album is a concept album about nuclear war, but the songs are sung in a way to have other meanings to. but the main message in the album is the nuclear threat. hence the music video the world is full of chaos and destruction and gass masks and radioactive fallout in the form of gasses and snow.

    I think it's refering to the end of the world in 2012, when the earth is supposed to burn from the heat of the 2 suns that are supposed to appear, then comes judegement day. It's to much to type but search it and you will understand my point of veiw.

    In the song the catalyst the lyric " we're a broken people living under loaded gun and it can't be out done, it can't be out matched, it can't be out run." I think when we get pressured by something it may feel horrible as if we are actually staring down a barrel of a loaded gun. And that some times it can have the effect that we can't do nothing about it that we feel powerless. As the song progress on it comes to this lyric "and when I close my eyes tonight, to symphonies of blinding light like memories in cold decay, transmissions echoing away, far from the world of you and i, where oceans bleed into the sky." when most people dream it isn't always in color. But if we dream about death and going to heaven we can only dream what the light might look like. So to someone that lost some one,and there dreaming of dying it could seam like there swimming in memories in cold decay. However when the song talkes about how we whant god to save us for almost every thing. It takes away the real point of helpfulness and forgiveness.

    Just heard the song for the first time and I have to say it's just awesome
    i'm a huge lp fan and for me the catalyst doesn't sound a lot like the old lp stuff but though it's great. I can't wait to hear the whole album

    To the meaning of the song I'd say that it's about the people living now
    we've done a lot of things that are bad for everyone like war, destroying the environment and stuff like that, but we're too powerful to be outfought so we just keep doing bad things. That's why we really need god's blessing that the people are able to live on earth in the future.

    I think the songs is supposed to make the people think about all that and to realize that we have to stop destroying everything including ourselves.
