Curious song. . .with the freakish use of the word "Reich", I could have sworn this was about the Holocaust. But more theories surface after researching th song. It could also have to do with an artist being oppressed by people who hate art, which is Manson to the last detail.

I've been reading through Nachtkabarett a lot, and considering all the references to Germany in the album ("Reich" were the German governments, being German for "empire") and the "obscene art" things... "The Golden Age of Grotesque" is a celebration of oppressed art, freedom, obscenity.

Interestingly I interpret this album including the song as sarcastic and Manson saying ok if you think we're grotesque then we'll be grotesque.
