   Michael did have a pet mouse or rat it dosent matter the point is he didn't kill himself yes people did hurt his feelings but he loved his children too much to kill himself dr Murray did the job and after Michael died he said Im hungry let's go get something to eat.    Actually, Michael didn't have a pet mouse named Ben. This song was written for a movie, about a boy and his mouse, and of course, they asked Michael to sing it. I think the song is about a boy and how he doesn't have many friends.. and how he and the rat are together. Finding friendship was a hard thing for Michael because of his early superstardom.    This song is about a pet mouse that Michael used to have when he was a child, hence the lyrics 'most people would turn you away' and 'You feel you're not wanted, anywhere. The mouse was his only friend, hence the lyrics 'With a friend to call my own, I'll never be alone'.
