When the patient was a teen, he was basically an ungrateful little piece of offal. This song is very reminicent (like the song Teenagers) of the book and movie A Clockwork Orange. Gerard way loves both, so I think the character Alex and his Droogs sneak their way into the story now and again. In House of Wolves, the patient watches himself as a kid, and how everytime he does something horrible, his teenage self simply dismisses his own actions, saying that yes, he was a a bad man, and that we all die in the end so it doesn't even matter.

RE: gerardway_hot1 You are one of the most moronic people I've ever heard. Don't act like "we can't have fun" because we have the response. It's the fact that it didn't sound like a joke, and some people actually take their music seriously. If great great great music is a joke to you, go listen to Avril Lavigne. THERE'S something to laugh at. Because I honestly don't find anything funny about a guy with cancer who thinks he's going to hell. Maybe I just have something up my ass. ((By the way-It is about the patient thinking, shit, I'm going to hell. The band got the name from this Looney Toon episode where this wolf dies and goes to this jazz house. The House Of Wolves. Which is supposed to be hell to the creater of LT? Lol?)) S I N S I N : D

You all need to chill. I highly doubt that's what she really thought it was about. She was just joking, so you don't have to bitch her out. damn, chill!

I agree with "emo guy" this is most likely about the patient wondering if he'll go to hell because he lived a life of sin

My Chemical Romance says on an interview that this song is about the "Patient" that the whole album is about, reflection on his life and being completely freaked out that he's going to Hell. On of the members says the name came from a Loony Tunes episode, where a guy dies and goes to hell, a freaking jazz club full of fire and some kind of gray rock(can't remember the name)and wolves are playing the instruments. I swear, that's EXACTLY what they said!

Hey, just splitting hairs here, but one of the great things about a song with real meaning is that you can interpret it any way you want. Just a random thought: maybe it's about what happened in Waco, Texas, in 1993, with that cult. "Everybody burn the house right down" might be a clue about the siege at the cult's base, which killed 82 people. Obviously that Koresh guy was messed up, and must have some remorse for some of the weird things his church did, shown in this song: "Well I think I'm gonna burn in hell/I know a thing about contrition cuz' I got enough to spare". Plus, this song reflects on religion quite a bit: "C'mon sing the praise/let the spirit come on through ya" although Koresh ha remorse about stuff he did, he convinced himself otherwise: "We got innocence for days/it's a compliment I swear/tell me I'm an angel/take this to my grave" David Koresh's ways would never be accepted: "You better run like the devil cuz' they never gonna leave you alone/you better hide up in the alley cuz' they never gonna find you a home" But it's only a thought. The song probably fits in with the story of the album, like you said. Just a suggestion.

Although this might be an incomprehensible interpretation, I think that the patient is thinking about how people hate him because he is an atheist, if you notice that he talks about spirit and religion a lot with angels and devils, in which he would look at all the people who think he is a bad man because he is an atheist and that he's starting to believe in something, noticing that he's been sinning and making fun of the senseless religious guys. DON'T BITCH AT ATHEISTS Kai0o0

It's about Frank Iero fighting with his pa, he said so in a radio interview. Case closed.

House Of Wolves is like the patient realizing his mistakes in life and hoping to be forgiven "(S-I-N, I S-I-N S-I-N, I S-I-N)" "Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave. Tell me I'm a bad man, Kick me like a stray. Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave."

I think that it's about church and who everyone there thinks there better than everyone else when it says "tell me I'm a bad man kick me like a stray" it means that if you don't conform to their beliefs in somewhat of a church then they kick you out

It seems like the house of wolves is based off of lord of the flies. He even talks about the choir boys.

I know this isn't the real song meaning but I always thought of it this way: There is a boy, his mother, his father and his sister. His father loves his sister and not him. And his mother loves both her children. There is a fire, his mother dies and he goes to the hospital. His father and sister never visit him again. The first stanza is about how the priest comes to comfort him, but he only wants his mother. So he starts mocking the priest. In the second stanza he hears his mother is dead but the entire house didn't burn down. Enraged he wishes the entire house burned down with it. 3rd stanza: He stays in the hospital for reasons other than burns, but for mental help. They think the fire traumatized him but really it's his father issues (Tell me I'm a bad man, bad son?). Or it could be he is burned so badly and wants to talk about his father but physically can't. Either or. 4th stanza: He has a girlfriend but she can't see him like this? Or she moved away? Either way, I think the 'lover' still loves him. He just doesn't know it. 5th stanza: I think the people playing ring around the ambulance is how he thinks he's going to die and they are joyous he's dying. He compares these shadow children to his father. And begins to rant about him. He knows his father never loved him 'play ring around the ambulance like you never gave a care! ' and 'ashes to ashes we all fall down' an example of his father's lack of sympathy and compassion. But he wants his father to love him, to praise him. 6th stanza: An example of how his father's cruelty has effected him. Making him believe he is responsible for his mother's death and worthless. Hence, how he is going to burn in hell. 7th stanza: Same as third stanza. 8th stanza: The 'you better run like the devil' line I think applies to his girlfriend, or maybe his paranoia that he is responsible for his mothers death and believes she will haunt him? The last few lines talk about how his mother died ('blood runs down the walls'). Again his father's love for his sister and not him is mentioned. And the 'go go go!' being his mother screaming for him not to try and save her. 9th stanza: Same as third and seventh. 10th and 11th stanza: talks about how his father's criticism has finally driven him overboard and he fully believes it. ----------------------- Okay, before anyone says anything this is not the right meaning! But this is how I always thought about it. What it made ME feel. And isn't that what poetry and music is about? Interpretation and feeling? Anyway, hope this makes you think. 'Cause I'm really enjoying reading other peoples' interpretations and the actual song meanings! :)

Someone mentioned religion being a part of the song. I personally thought the Gerard was merely making fun at religion considering he IS talking about going to hell, or at least the speaker in the song is. <3 thanks, pinkslipgirl

I think the song is about the patient before he's going to die and he never really cared much about his faith until now and he's worried about going to hell because he was a bad person "S-I-N I S-I-N" Now he wants to pay more attention and start praying and believing so he doesn't go to hell "Well I said hey, hey hallelujah, I'm gonna come on sing the praise." He's saying he thinks he's going to hell in the line "Well, I think I'm gonna burn in hell" and in "Everybody burn the house right down" he's saying well fuck it I'm going to hell anyway lets have fun "And say, ha What I wanna say Tell me I'm an angel, Take this to my grave. Tell me I'm a bad man, Kick me like a stray. " I guess in that line he's saying he'll get what he deserves "You play ring around the ambulance, Well like you never gave a care. " I guess he's hurting people or just found out he's sick and in the ambulance "And I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down, I wanna hear you sing the praise, " I think he's talking to other people saying life ends at some point believe in your faith and be a good person "You better run like the devil, 'Cause they're never gonna leave you alone! " I think he's talking about running from the police "You better hide up in the alley, 'Cause they're never gonna find you a home! " Hiding from police because if you pay bills and what not they'll find you "And as the blood runs down the walls, You see me creepin' up these halls. " I guess the patient was a murderer... "I've been a bad motherfucker Tell your sister I'm another Go! Go! Go! " I guess he's at a persons house and going to kill someone and the guy he's going to kill tells the sister to hide or get out the house

It's a song about how the patient wants people to tell him off because he believes he is going to hell.
