Just as the 'god of this world' (Satan) has the power to blind the minds of those who don't believe from hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ as explained in II Corinthians 4:4; the worries and temptations of this world can have a distracting effect on the life of a Christian, putting him or her in a 'spiritual slumber', rendering him ineffective as a witness for Christ. In Ephesians 5:14, Paul's urging is for the Christian to "Awake, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light" Please study the first twenty verses of this chapter if this sounds like you, and 'WAKE UP!'
