Never Again Lyrics
She must have done something wrong tonight
The living room becomes a boxing ring
It's time to run when you see him
Clenching his hands
She's just a woman
Never Again
I hear her scream, from down the...

It is about domestic abuse through the eyes of a child. The boy is seeing his mom go through all this and feels angry that he can't help her.. She finally has enough and shoots him..

From what I understood from this song, it could mean one of two things.
The most popular opinion is that the song is about an alchoholic father/husband that regularly beats his wife (He's drunk again, it's time to fight). The child is thinking these thoughts in his head as all of this plays out in front of him.
There are a few lines in the song though that make me think that this isn't a child, but more along the lines of a neighbor in an apartment. Though "I hear her scream, from down the hall. Amazing she can even talk at all. She cries to me, Go back to bed. I'm terrified that she'll wind up
Dead in his hands" could be a child down the hall in a house, or in an apartment building, the lines "Been there before, but not like this. Seen it before, but not like this. Never before have I ever seen it this bad, she's just a woman" sound like an older person who has been around for awhile, and seen things like this happen before. (How many couples fighting do most kids see? Most see none, but some see their parents fight like this, maybe if they are very unlucky, after a divorce and remarriage, 2.) But from this line, it sounds like the "narrarater" has seen this happen numerous times throughout their life, but this is the worst.
After the husband beating the wife for yet another time, she eventually has enough and shoots him so he beats her....never again. -

This is to the dude who said he doesn't understand where anyone could get that this song is from the neighbor's point of view. It says "I hear her scream, from down the hall Amazing she can even talk at all" That makes it sound like an apartment building or something but it could be frmo the kids room too or something

Some of you really must check the lyrics before you post on here. The song is about how Chad's father used to beat his mother. Both she and he would cover up for it ("just tell the nurse you slipped and fell"/her telling him to just go back to bed.) The son (Chad) is worried about his mother being killed, and he is angry at his father ("father is a name you haven't earned yet"/"you're just a child with a temper"/"kicking your @$$ would be a pleasure") and finally, down to her wit's end, the wife grabs a gun and kills him ("she fires two shots as quick as she can"/"never again".)
It is obvious it is from the point of view from the child, who is watching it all take place. Where anyone could possibly get a neighbor is beyond my comprehension. -

Well this song seems to be about a father who abuses his wife. The speaker could be one of many people, such as the son, the wife, or a neighbour of some sort. Basically the song seems to talk about the mother taking too much abuse and she eventually takes a gun and kills her husband and then knows it will never happen again("She grabs the gun, she's had enough.....Pulls the trigger just as fast as she can/ Never again"). It also talks about how a bystander(probably the son) wishes he could do something ("Father's a name you haven't earned yet/You're just a child with a temper/Haven't you heard "don't hit a lady"?/Kickin? your @$$ would be a pleasure") and how the son fears for the future of his mother("I hear her scream, from down the hall/Amazing she can even talk at all/She cries to me, go back to bed/I'm terrified that she'll wind up"). Other parts show how the father tells her to cover it up("Just tell the nurse, you slipped and fell")
It's also been called a slightly autobiographical song since Chad Kroeger(NB's lead singer) supposedly had an alcoholic father when he was a kid. -

It's about chad's life as a child, seeing his mother beaten by his father basically having a terrible child hood. He wrote many songs on his life such as "Too Bad"

This song is about a boy who's mother is beaten by his father. She tries to cover it up. The boy is wishing "never again". Finally she defends herself, saying "never again". Read the lyrics, the story is quite well told. As for the previous interpretation, they should have looked up the lyrics first.
