He is wondering how they got so bad like fighting and stuff and he wonders why they couldn't stop it. He wishes that she wouldn't be so mad and that they could work it out. In the video a glass of milk is spilt and it means not to fight over the small things "don't cry over spilt milk" and that even though things are bad right now they will get better later (someday). The thing with the fight and everything with the news paper and stuff. If they have a bad fight without working it out it will only have a tragic ending (hollywood ending)the car crash. Buit if they work it out then the car crash wouldn't happen. In the end everything will be alright.
I haven't seen the video in a long time, but during the video the reason why the girl is so upset is because he died. And she is just so mad. He is there but as a ghost (he walks through the milk and no foot prints are there) she ends up getting in a crash and they are together again.

The young man in the video seems to be already dead. The video makes it look like she's leaving him because she's upset with him and he's telling her "someday it will all be better." however, you notice as she fixes her rear-view mirror, the young man is not seen. She was really leaving the house because she read in the newspaper that he had been killed. When she dies at the end, it's her soul that walks away, and he's there to meet her. The "someday" when it will all be better is when they meet in heaven.

It's been a while since I've seen the video, but if memory serves, the guy in the video died the day before in a bridge accident and in the video is just a ghost (which is why he doesn't leave any marks when he steps in the spilt milk) and his girl friend is crying over the fact that he died, and drives off and into an accident, killing her. Then the couple is together again and walks away.
I don't think the song has much to do with the video, however. The song sounds to be more about a guy who is having financial problems in his life and his relationship with his girlfriend is falling apart. He's telling her that he will make it right eventually and that they both have to hold on for a little longer.

He's already dead in the video and she's devestated over it. The newspaper mentions a man killed in some sort of accident on a bridge. Watch closely at the spilt milk. She leaves milk footprints behind and he doesn't. This song is about a tragic ending to a strong relationship where both of them were a bit bottled up and never got the chance to open up and get the things that are hard to say off thier chest. It's actually a happy ending since all through the video the guy just can't communicate with his girl, though he's trying to stop her from getting in the car leads me to believe that he must know a bit about her tragic future since he's dead already. I say it's a happy ending since they are reunited in death. Perhaps he's trying to stop her from possibly surviving half parylized or seriously handicapped. It's a bit confusing but I think he's just frustrated and in just as much pain as she is as both of them had something they never expressed to one another.
"Lets rewrite an ending that fits instead of a hollywood horror"
That line says it all!
The video reminds me of the movie Ghost just a tad.

I believe its partly been touched on but IMHO this song is more along the lines of a story with a moral, most people have been looking too hard at the video (the artists, not just Nickelback don't always have control over the vids that's what directors are for) anyways the moral is that "yeah we make mistakes, but given time some mistakes can be set right, hence - someday, somehow I'm gunna make it all right. just sometimes its not just down to us, sometimes others have to forgive and forget."

Obviously, the guy and the girl were probably fighting. He also appears dead, something I didn't realize when I first saw this video. She is crying because he is gone, that's why her footprints are seen and his are not. She runs away from her problems but the guy follows her, as if he is saying everything will be alright- someday. At the end, she gets in a car crash and dies, and they are finally reunited in the afterlife. They walk by the newspaper that describes this death.

In the music video in the beggining of the song they spill milk and the only purpose to that is when he steps in the milk he doesnt make a foot print proving that he isnt alive. Also if you notice the girl doesnt say anything to him which means she doesnt even see him. Then he chases her and when she gets into the car accident she died then they both saw each other. Then at the very end you see that he was dead all along.
