For those who haven't heard of them, Nightwish are a Finnish metal band with a female opera-style singer. They've had about 5/6 albums out, I have 3. Now, the song, someone told me it's related to Lord Of The Rings, and I can see that. There is an excerpt read somewhere in the song that sounds like LOTR but I can't be sure. Someone post an interpretation to tell me if I'm right.

Elvenpath is simply a fantasy tale. It could be while your sleeping 'As sleep takes me by my hand, magrigolds from the woods, carry me to neverland'. Could be in the medieval times. Could be on a journey. Its pure fantasy this song is.

Yes, the song clearly relating to (e.A.) the lord of the rings mainly because of the parts read by male voice (they really are from lotr).. But the whole text describes world of of fantasy as whole .. .. From my point of view it reader's feeling of/when reading fantasy/fairytale books .. Ithing it's quite obvious from the lyrics.. :)

I think it's about how when you're a child the books you read are real to you, so real, in fact, that you are able to travel there in dreams. You are led down what they call the "Elvenpath" or the path to all your fantasy worlds.

I think it also has something to do with fantasy being a form of escape. Escaping from this world into one of your own. "It's the honesty of these worlds Ruled by magic and mighty swords/That makes my soul long for the past." I think its also about how our world maybe isn't all that nice and leaving and going to another one.
